Okay, i filled up a collision report today is it possible to cancel the report?

silvertable58
why would u do something like that for?

Might be charged with fileing a false police report.

The guy who is paying for the damages decided to pick up his phone (i thought he was avoiding me or gave me fake number), so he wanted to just pay for the damages without going through insurance but the thing is he doesnt even have driver license or insurance so i just want him to pay for my minor damages and thats that because i know he will recieve additional tickets like driving w/o license and insurance and i just dont want to be the a$$ but i guess he will have to figure out how he wants to deal with it because he has to fill out his report within the week.

DivineRight
Nope, you can't cancel it. Too little, too late.

diesekiel
Fuck him, he obviously can't drive which is why he probably doesn't have his license... yet he was driving...?

Prudz_lude
two things. The police report is what the insurance looks and if your not going through insurance the report really doesn't mean much. It just means the car will have a carfax on the damage since i am assuming its over 1000 dollars.

Turning him in is really up to you. If you don't want to, don't. Is it right? no, he should be turned in before he seriously injures someone leaving the injured with no one to sue but him. Based on him not being able to afford insurance i think its safe to assume they would get very very little for sueing him.

Its your call.

I would tell him to stop driving before he is involved in the described situation before its to late. That would put him in jail for a long time and ruin the remainder of his life and for what? to drive a car.

You have to complete the police report to get a collision place to repair your car (if thats the route you're choosing). Collision repair facilities will not work on your car unless you have the damaged vehicle sticker in your window.

I got hit in a friends driveway by his girlfriend when she didnt look behind her backing up her F350 (I was inside having a beer). I went to the collision place first, deemed it was more then $1000, and then filed the report. If it wasnt over 1g, I wouldnt have bothered, it wasnt a malicious hit or anything.

If its under 1000$, you can do whatever you want. As for turning him in, you're call... but I think our roads would be safer with less unlicensed people roaming around???

Until you've met someone who have been traumatized by someone who drives without insurance, you don't understand the damage that they do.

There is a reason that driving without insurance means a manditory court hearing. If you get injured and/or your car gets totalled but the other party doesn't have insurance, guess what? You get the shaft. You can't work anymore, who has to suffer? Guess what, you do.

I don't think you can say it any better than how diesekiel put it.

hey is it true the other person has a week to fill in the other half of the report before the police come looking for them? I'm not too sure how the process goes, since its my first time. Any info or anything would be helpful. thank you.

If you fill out the report the cops will probably call them right away and start bugging them to come down. When I got in a fender bender they went to the police station first thing, and I had a call to show up shortly after.

bluethx
hmm its already been 5 days since the day i reported and no call so far from the police. should i call them or just wait?

BLOCKER
you have 72 hours to report a collision

It is likely that you have not been called yet because the other half of the collison report has not been filled out.

give it two more days and call the station you made the report at.

wow...the same guy just took out a powerbox and fence. he is so fucked now.
