i am a u of a student and will be moving out for the first time in sept.
im filling out a few applications right now and dont know what to put for "credit reference"
i dont have a credit card and currently unemployed
in a situation like this i believe leaving it blank will look bad on the application, what should i do? i have read that even a cell phone contract is considered a form of credit, so should i name someone from my cell phone company?
thanks |

Putting down a relative isn't a form of "credit referencing" that would just be a "reference"
Checking someone's credit history is to see how good they are with paying back the money they take out (loans)
If you're young, usually you won't have much if any credit.
I'm not sure about the cell phone bit but you can try putting it down cuz I do know the cellular companies do a credit check prior to signing you up for a plan
There are also ways to check your credit without actually putting down references, there are companies that can look it up just thru your name & address. |

| cellphone companies do a credit check on you, but nothing gets reported unless its negative so it won't do you any good. Its the same for utilities or other non-credit related bills. |
