So yesterday (Friday, August 31) there was a pretty large group of people that went down to the North Side BP's at the end of the night. At the end, after paying my portion of the bill I left my credit card there by accident.
I only find out that I left it there today at like 2:00PM when I was looking for it to make another purchase. I call my credit card company to report the card missing.
They tell me that the last purchase on the card was at a Mac's store today (Sept 1 @ 11:50AM) for $59.xx. This was not me, so
obviously somebody decided to just max out their tank at the pump. The latest purchase I made before that one was (Sept 1 @ 2:15AM) at the North Side Boston Pizza.
I called the BP's as well and talked to the night manager. Turns out she was working there that night and she remembers me leaving the card there. She asked some people that were waiting to pay and she gave it to one guy that said he
knew me. I asked for the name or description but all she could recall is that it was a 4-letter name of the person she gave the card to. She said she had surveillance DVDs and she could skip over to the time my purchase was made and find out who she gave the card to in that timeframe. She was a bit busy at the time but she would be able to check for me later tonight.
Basically, I'll eventually find out who it was.
So there you have it. Pretty simple to see what has happened.
You can keep the card, I don't need that since it's already cancelled. So what it boils down to is that you can bring me back
my $60 and say that you used my CC because you forgot your wallet at home and we will both be happy. Otherwise, I think we will have a bit of a problem. |

Wow, I hope someone took it cause they did know you and when they paid at the pump meant to use their credit card... its plausible but not very likely...
Sucks man but good thing you will get some resolution |
|
|
| Prudz_lude |
thats not even plausable^. You have to be retarded when you reach into a wallet and pretend you don't know what your credit card looks like unless its the exact same one.
I can see someone getting their ass kicked in the very near future, and Adam's prettty big. If i stole his CC i would be pretty scared.
That sucks. Good thing you know to cancel a credit card even if you misplaced it just in case  Glad to see it wasn't worse than 60 dollars. |

| I know its not very likely but there IS the slim chance they have the same CC... but not likely CMON im hoping for this to be a simple mix up with good intentions! |

| was it you cody???? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM was it? |

Yah same. Its not like everyone knows everyone who goes to the meets. i know very few people and i know only one person well enough to trust them with anything i own. |

That CC was pretty old so the signature was faded to the point that most of the time I made a purchase over $20 I would have to be IDed. With this one it's pretty obvious that it was used to pay-at-the-pump because they would probably have to the person using it.
In the end, I can just file out a credit fraud report with the CC company and they can do an investigation (which leaves me with a month wait and some paper work to do). I bet when the credit company does the investigation the CCTV tapes from the gas station will come up. If a freaking restaurant can get me video footage then I'd be willing to bet that a gas station wouldn't have much trouble digging up some footage from a particular date.
$60 isn't a whole lot of cash but the principality of the situation pisses me off and I'm willing to pursue it because it's not something that isn't completely out of my hands. |

wow thats pretty low, and all for 60$?
hahahah who ever did it is a retard.
goodluck finding him. keep us posted.
everyone should know who did it because then we know he cant be trusted. |
|
|
| Prudz_lude |
| the part he should realize is that if he is found he can be charged with identity theft which is a huge offense. seriously, even though it was only 60 dollars. It does not matter how much was spent because Adam was smart enough to stop it before it got worse. If Adam discovers who did it, which shouldn't be hard because police will assist him for this crime, he will be in a power position to make the life of whoever did this very very difficult. Just some food for thought. |

Chances are they intended to spend more but he stopped them in time.
Take the tapes to the police, don't even give them a chance. If they'll do it once they'll do it again, make them pay the consequences. |

Agreed. The only way i would let it slide is if it were one of my good friends who did that as a joke. Other than the few i would not care about i would pursue this and teach whoever did this a little lesson.
There are very few times your in a position with criminals that, you the victim, can actually do something about what happened. |

shit sorry to hear that man
I agree i say punish him, if you don't most likely he will just go and do it again hopefully this way he'll hopefully learn his lesson,
like who the fuck does that all for 60 bucks, like wtf did you get out of it. |

I'll definately keep you guys updated... as it stands right now, the manager called me back and told me that she was too busy to check them at 9 like she said earlier. She told me though that when it closes she will have a look. She said that she will have a description for me at least or she will be able to get me a full name depending on the time his transaction was made at the till.
The other obvious lead is the Mac's. I'll be calling up the Northern Alberta corporate office about a fraudulent credit card transaction for $60, at 11:50AM at their store number #22646 (it would be easier if they just put down addresses). I'd be surprised if they didn't have surveillance footage of the licence plate or even the person himself. |

fry the bastard, no one should have to deal with that bs, I'm thinking i'll be locking my cars at the meets from now on.
If I found out who it was id pay him a visit, screw the 60.00, give em 500.00 in medical bills. |

thats what i was hoping would happen. I was hoping they were smart enough to find out when he made his transaction to pull up his name if he used any kind of plastic card. As for the gas station, hopefully his plate was visable to cameras. |

That is unreal man. Fuck that sucks. To me, it doesn't matter if they spent $2 or $2,000. Just the fact that they did it is bad enough.
Anyways, hopefully everything works out and KEEP US UPDATED. I want to know who this Douche is.

| how many people still go to 780 meets? and how many of them that originally showed made it down to BP's. I haven't been to a meet ths year except to pick up parts for 10 min so I wouldn't know. But I would think it would be a simple process of elimination, espescially since the group that seems to hang out together outside meets is pretty tight knit |
|
|
| Ayeso |
| Usually its not to many at BP's but I didnt go that night so it could have been more then usual. |
|
|
| Prudz_lude |
| the process of elimation has pretty much already happened once BP's has happened. Not many people make it all the way to BP's. |

I have placed all the required calls, nobody was really going to do much for me on labour day...
I called the Mac's Northern Alberta office in Edmonton and I told them all of the details of the transaction. Apparently when the lady picked up, this was the "Emergency Line" (LOL). She typed all the details of the transaction into a computer and told me that somebody from the office would contact me tommorow. (Guess the head office was closed from Saturday going onto Monday).
No word from the BPs as the manager never called me back yesterday. I left a message with another manager and told me that the other manager would be back Wednesday. However she could look into it herself and also give the manager from Friday Night a call her tommrow. Just for curiosity I asked her how long they kept the DVDs and she said 1 month so it's all good as I don't expect the situation to take that long to sort out anyway.
Right now, I'm doing this for the principality of things as I'm not out any money (the $60 wasn't even charged onto my card). This shit just pisses me off because I have personally seen how badly some people can get burned by shit like this (losing a VISA overseas... good luck on an investigation there).
I've invested about 15 minutes to place all the calls and I'll see where it goes from there. I'll have the affidavit in about 2 weeks so my VISA company can do their own investigation as well (if I know who it is I'll give them my deposition and name the person). |
