I think all the speakers in a a 4g prelude are 6.5's...
buying speakers is mostly opionative.. I like Clarion, Boston Accoustics, PPI, and MTX... others might recomend differently..
Find something you like.. and stick with them for all your speakers.. Power them accordingly and your system will sound great :)

| 5 1/4 will fit, depending on how big the magnet on the speaker is they will fit into the oem plastic speaker holders..if not gring or cut out the backs of them oem plastic speaker holder.. |

| i put 6.5" speakers in the doors of my friend's 93 prelude, just had to cut the plastic speaker holder a bit then it fit perfect. |

5 1/4 are better for sound, smaller diameter of the actual speaker so it will produce a more clearer and faster sound, much the same as a sub would. A 10" sub sounds way better than a 15 but obviously not as loud, so its what your oin for SQ or SPL!
But honest opinion 5 1/4 are the shit I used to sell car audio! |

| Well I've got 6.5 inch Alpines in the front doors with the matching tweeters in the dash and 5 1/4 inch alpines in the rear deck. I love the way they sound and i would recommend them. :) |

Awesome, thanks for all the feed back!
I'm gonna go browse for stuff tonight, I may stick with 5.25 in the front doors, but it all depends on the component set that i decide to go with.

On a side note, has anyone here added an amp for there front speakers? If so where did you mount the amp, and was it a pain to run the speakers from the deck to the amp and back? |

did you have to do any cutting to fit the alpines in the front? |

copper,
you already have power and rca wires in your trunk, put the second amp back there. running speaker wires to the front shouldn't be to difficult. |

Yeah there was a little custom work needed to clear the window. |

My amps are both mounted in the trunk. running the wires wasn't too bad at all - just anoying to go under the carpet. the most challenging part was fitting all of the junk that i have in my trunk securly (sp?). :) |

midnite,
True true, could just run the speaker wire along where the RCA's were run, hmmm....this is getting fun! . Although I thik i'm gonna stick with the 5.25 for the doors...
Now what kind of amp to look at for the front speakers...and how big??? But i think that one is gonna be down the road a little. |

Has anyone secured there subs in the sense that they could be considered bolted down?
My insurance company will cover all my stereo equipment as long as it's "bolted down" |

| Nope mine are just sitting on the trunk floor, although you can imagine how secure a dual 12'' box is in the trunk of a 4th gen prelude. :D |

the insurance company im with offers "Stereo Insurance" its something like 10 dollars for every 1000 you spend on your system...
You can secure a box in the back of your lude... ala 2x4 :)
