Well im looking at a new car in the states:blink:
i'm thinking why not fly their and drive it back?
im getting shipping quotes around 2000 for shipping and i dont want to pay that

i can get a plane for around 300 bucks one way
to Allentown, Pennsylvania

mapquest says around 1 and half days
more or less on how i drive...

what do you guys think? is it worth going to get it or just get it shipped? im not rich and getting it shipped to me is to much..
well the places i found - unless theirs someone who knows a good shipping place?

What are all the papers i need to get over the border and have tempary inserance while driving>?

LOL sounds good brother !! ;)

Any help !!

arabian_ryda
all the necessary paperwork to have it cleared by customs must be with them 72 prior to you getting to the border unless u want to wait to have it cleared.

CharLiee
Fuck joe just search!
You need a buncha paperwork..i have links but its on my home comp.

Rabb
make sure you call RIV ..and call mercedes canada ..Benzs are the hardest cars to cross over the border !! .. if you havent noticed not many ppl do it b/c you need to change alot of things to make the car legal in Canada.

just make sure you call RIV and Mercedes Canada before you lay down the coin !:)

Depending on the year checkout the warranty too. I know when i was looking at going to the states alot of manufactures US warranties would not be upheld in canada.

everything you will need to know is there, if you have the time to drive it back your likely to save a ton of cash. unfortunately i did not have the time away from work to do this myself but my buddy at work always has a car on the way and all you need to do is make sure you have every piece of paperwork completed exactly right and on time, have the cashola for the cdn border and make sure the car is legit (no leins, no floods, no theft recovery, no big accidents) then have fun knowing you paid thousands less then others!!! but like RABB said, RIV should be the first step.

Joe, in my personal opinion, don't bother getting a Benz from the states. they are a nightmare to import, Mercedes themselves makes it this way. thats why my company never deals with them, bmw's, sure, audis, great, most anything but benz. Lamborghini's are also next to impossible to import but i don't quite think thats in your price range.

thanks man, im going to make some calls
like recalls onthem and riv and stuff

ill tell you guys how it goes :fingersx:

Pretty sure Mercedes is charging $2000 for a recall letter right now.

We charge $500 at BMW.

I quit Brinks.

I work at Edmonton BMW as a service advisor now.

I just recently bought a Mercedes Sl600 from the states and it isnt worth it unless you get a good deal on the car. I flew there and drove it back. Mercedes didnt charge anything for the letter. But i had to do a lot of changes.
1) Daytime running lights (anyone who knows mercedes will know that electrical work on their cars are a pain)
2) Canadian certified front bumper (i called and it wasn't as bad as i was told, only about 1800 to do, some cars i heard can go uo to 5000 just to do the canadian front bumper conversion.)

Honestly call the riv and call Weber Motors, they will tell you exactly what they need. when i was getting the work done there, the service manager was telling me they do one American car a day during the summer because of the canadian dollar.
