I'm driving to Toronto on Sunday night, I need a radar detector, is there anyone around that is friendly enough to lend it to me for a week or so?
Thanks a ton |

| Radar detectors are illegal in Ontario AFAIK so just be careful while out there. |

With a REALLY hefty fine, too. The Ontario cops have detector detectors, so they can tell who's got one.
Detectors are only legal in BC Alberta and Sask. |

I'm from Ontario.... thanks :)
I love this whole, "They have detector detectors" hahahah.
I wanna use it on the way there, they're also illegal in Manitoba. I use my eyes and my foot, but there are certain stretches that go on for a coupla hundred KM and if I don't have to do 100kmh I don't want to. I've done this trip 9 times now, and this time can do without the stress of an asshole saying, 'HEY EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO-ONE HERE YOU STILL SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN GOING 20 OVER THE LIMIT" because trust me, 20over makes a huge difference in time, when you're going 3500km.
I don't want the speech about how to drive, or anythign other than, any of my buddies on here... with a detector for me? Thanks.

"The Big Hit"
"Trace Busta BUSTA!"
"Yeah well I have a Trace busta, busta, BUSTA!!!!"
"Radar Detector, DETECTOR!"
.... that's all :dunno:
I know they exist, and that's why I was always petrified of using them. They're easy to turn off when you're in illegal areas.
There's radar jammers and tons of ways around it, and only 1/4 OPP have radar, and only one out of 10 of them have detector detectors :)
Anyway, thanks Jay |

| The Bel STi is the only one out that can't be detected by detector detectors... |

My cousin is an RCMP in the BC interior. He told me once that he doesn't need a detector detector. He cruises in an unmarked car with an instant-on radar gun. He passes a train of speeders, waits till he's out of sight, then spins a quick U-ey. He comes up behind the group, and flicks the gun on. The ones that nail the brakes instantly are the ones with the radar detectors.
He also told me that he specifically looks for the cord dangling in the windshield. That alerts him to the presence of the radar detector, and as he puts it "they're just advertising that they want to be a customer of mine". So, if your cord is dangling from the rear view mirror, try to run it up the A-pillar. |

His ways and detection methods are antiquated now with some of the stuff out from Cobra like the R9, which is both wireless so there is no cord dangling, it also incorporates a GPS Red Light / Speed Camera database so no matter where you are you will know ahead of time if such a unit exists at an upcoming intersection.
The STi Driver is the kingpin right now in my opinion. |

Detectors in BC are legal. It's just that, to him, a radar detector is a big billboard screaming "hey, watch me, I'm gonna speed!" |

My radar detector has VG2 which knows when a cop has a "detector detector". My radar detecor will shut down and flash VG2 to prevent the cop from detecting it. It hardly ever does this, most cops either don't have a detector or don't have it turned on.
I bought my detector 5 or 6 years ago, its a FuzzBuster 5000. Corny name but it works awesome. Bought it on a recomendation. Have not seen fuzzbuster since. |

| Go to Future shop, Londond drugs, best buy... Buy one then say it didn't meet your needs and take it back. |
