Where do you guys who store your cars in the winter store them?

I stored mine last year in my backyard and long story shot.. I told myself I would never do it again.

Now winter is gunna be coming around again for this year.. im looking for somewhere i can store my car without having to pay huge amounts for it.

Anyone have a big barn or shed or something? I have no problem paying, just I dont want to pay 100-300 a month!

4thGenLude

I park it at my parents in Calgary.

Wash and wax it, cover it, and start it again in April.

You just gotta know someone that lives in a condo with underground parking, then get them to rent out any extra parking stall for you. I did that last winter and it was $55/ month, just threw the car cover on her and called it a winter.

4thGenLude
Now to ask any of you on this forum that are my friends who may live in a condo...
is this possible? lol

I think I've found a guy with a sea container that I'm goina use. No heat, but thats no big deal - just weld the fuck'n door shut so no thief borrows my truck.

Whats wrong with parking it outside covered up. Alot of the old guys in the Edmonton sports car club just throw a car cover on and let'er freeze.

i bit the bullit and am paying "medium" sized bucks for secure storage, luckily my roomate has a couple of crotch rockets that he is going to store along side my Z and he is going to split the rate.

sentinel is anywhere from 160-260 depending on what loc. i wouldnt do it if it wasnt being subsidized by my roomys bikes, but like alot of guys on here my house doesnt have covered parking. the difference in insurance while stored (no collision) makes up for most of the cost of storage, 6 of one 1/2 dozen of another.

there is a lady on kijiji.ca who is offering a good sized garage for 125 a month, but when it came to making a deal she seemed a little shady, so i figured i would cough up a few more bucks and not take a chance.

4thGenLude
i dont want to let er freeze again..
if i leave it outside it means it goes in my backyard,, which is at least 100 feet in from the road.

then when i want to get it out cause the roads are dry.. i cant cause theres still 3 feet of snow all the way back to my car. plus its frozen to the ground.. plus the risk of mice.. fuck it lol

im not doing it again :p

I have one of mine always parked under a cover in my grandmas garage:)

Apparation
damn im on the same boat! i need to garage my car O_o

Prudz_lude
make a snow fort around it. Like a snow garage so you can just drive out of it in spring.

I stored my car in a heated shop in a small town. I was worried about mice so i bought a couple of those sonic pest repellers, you plug them in and the sonic noise is supposed to scare away mice. I also put steel wool in my exhaust tip to keep mice out, and i put a bunch of bounce dryer sheets in and around my car (mice hate bounce, they prefer downy) . this year thought i'm puting on a battery tender, to keep the charge up, and i've been thinking about installing that canadian tire anti rust ionizer thingy, the only bad thing is that it's like $300!!! I hate rust.

finding someone with a condo/apartment with heated underground parking is the best bet. its probably the cheapest solution $50-$70 a month. Most apartments downtown have underground parking.

as for the mice problem, doesnt Alberta have some barrier or something that keeps them out? i remember hearing that Alberta is completely rat free, but are mice and rats the same thing?

accord90
Most underground parking isn't always very secure in edmonton. Alberta has mice but somhow no rats. I bought some rat traps as a joke the other day, wonder why they sell them here if we don't have rats.

diesekiel
If you guys are worried about mice, just buy a bar of the green Irish Spring soap, they hate it. And just break off little pieces and put it in every corner of your interior. They hate that shit they won't come near your car. It's what the R.V. dealer's use to repell rats and mice.

As far as the underground parking goes, like I said, that's the best  $50-$70/month FTW!

No, parking it in your own garage FTMFW.

diesekiel
Well obviously lol.

lol, not mice and rats are not the same thing. Rats are not in alberta. only mice.

now the only problem is finding someone who lives in a condo with heated underground parking..

I called around to places that are for rent to find one with a detached garage and asked if they are willing to rent me Just the garage over the winter. lots of them were game for it but wanted 150-200 bucks If you find a double garage and some one to split the cost its a good deal . some are heated to :) .

i called my buds and one of them is renting my their garage for 100 bucks a month :) all I am going to do is buy a propane heater so i can work on the car in the winter :D
