Those are nice cars. I have been thinking about the upgrade. That year is the only styling I have liked since they redesigned them in 00. I prefer the 97-99 look like I have.
I will wait though. I am thinking about the hybrid avalon scheduled to hit in 2010 or 2011.

There's no hybrid Avalon coming. There might be rumours?
It's a very nice daily driver with lots of room.
Gets good mileage and has decent power.
I think it's the best model to date. |

Interesting,
As it is in Toyota's mandate to have their entire product line offered in a hybrid version by 2011.
Either they changed mandate, someones sources are wrong, or they are discontinuing the Avalon and bringing in another luxury sedan to replace it as they did with the Cressida (An older version of the Avalon. Check the styling cues on the 91/92 production year.)

Your second and third options are wrong.
They might bring in more hybrid versions. But not an Avalon.
A fully loaded Avalon is over 50g's plus tax. A hybrid version would cost about 60gs.
Nobody in their right mind will pay that much for a Toyota sedan. |

uhhh.... Do a search on a 1991/92 Toyota Cressida. It was discontinued in in 1992. 3 years later it was reborn as the Avalon. Except the avalon was front wheel drive not rear wheel like the cressida. The 95 to 99 Avalons look very similar to the 91/92 Cressida.
As for the price..... Sixty Thousand for a hybrid top end luxury car from Toyota in 4 years is not obsurd. Have you heard of inflation?
Lets look at this example, when the prius came out in 97, it was about a $35,000 car. A new Hybrid Camry can be purchased for about $35,000 to $37,000.00 depending on who you know.
Sure, the price is the same on face value, but if you are to take into consideration inflation and go back 10 years with the current present value of $35,000.00, you will soon realize the Hybrid Camry is alot less than the prius, and more of a car.
Last time I checked with Toyota Canada, I was told that they are offering all of their vehicles as a hybrid option by 2011.
Next time do your research before you tell me I am wrong.

I know there used to be a cressida back in 91. But why are you telling me to look it up. I know it exists. Unless you misunderstood me the first time.
You were saying they might replace the Avalon and I'm telling you that they are going to keep the Avalon.
A fully loaded Prius is now 36800 before tax including navigation. So the price hasn't changed much since it came out in 97. So stop asking me stupid questions like: have u heard of inflation?
You make it sound like I'm an idiot.
I can be even more insulting if you'd like.
You are claiming that you were told by Toyota that all their vehicles were being offered as a hybrid by 2011.
Again, I'm telling you that it's not true.
So If you read my original paragraph carefully. I wasn't being an ass towards you. I was basically stating that Toyota isn't discontinuing the Avalon and that there won't be a hybrid for each model. |

Originally I was told by Toyota Canada that all their models will be offered in a hybrid option by 2011.
In your response to me you told me that the avalon will not be offered as a hybrid. My response was that if they will not offer it as a hybrid, then maybe they will discontinue it by 2011.
So if you are telling me that all Toyota vehciles will not be eventually offered as a hybrid, then why was it that I called Toyota Canada 5 min ago and they told me they are going to make all their vehicles hybrid. They are phasing them in.

They might have hybrids available in every model one day.
But I was saying that they won't be available by 2011.
I was just stating that the Avalon will stay in the line up and won't be offered as a hybrid by 2011.
No I'm not a salesperson for Toyota. |

Hard to say...
by 2011 we shall see. I suspect around 2011. Give or take 2 years.
The hybrid camry's were not supposed to come out till late 2007 early 2008 and they showed up in the dealerships in June 2006.
Why would Toyota not push the production of their hybrid vehicles when they are having a large success of sales of the hybrid vehicles in the Canadian and US marketplace?
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Wow, no one in their right mind should pay over 50 grand for fwd toyota sedan imo. That is crazy for what is toyota's version of a buick sedan. lol Good maybe for someone in their 60's, but not people under that age. |

Ive been going to the car auctions around the city and since the car market has taken such a huge dive on the used side I was thinking of a CRV or something SUVish 4x4 for winter.
It's hard to resist looking at minivans when you see a 05 go for under 5g's and 03-05 cavilers/neon's go for 2500 bux but I for sure need to take my civic off the road and fix it up a bit more. |
