ill leave some of the details out but basically it seems like someone else may have unarmed my car last night @ 3 am, naturally i woke up to the "beep beep" of the remote and see my car interior lights on. me and my louisvile slugger found nothing but an unarmed car and an absolutely quiet alley.
so i cruised around for a little while to find nobody and nothing moving in a 5 block radius of my place. go back to sleep (fully clothed ready to pounce) and it happens again @ 4am, this time i was quicker but the same- nothing and nobody. i let the car sit for a lil while open while i observe and nothing for like 20 mins, so i disconnected the compustar and went to mt GF's, parked in the parkade with a security guard and got my last hour of sleep before work.
now has anybody else experienced these phantom events or am i being cased out??? the car is going into winter storage next month but i could put it away today if i wanted. my last nice car was ganked so i am extra paranoid.
before this i have had nothing ever go wrong with my compustar, but i have only had it for a month. |

| Was it the page function or it just beeping? Cause I know of some thieves that use the page function to break in, they also use it to test to see if the person is watching the car or not. I wont disclose how you can use it but it can be used against you and I advise removing it if you have it. |

| nope i dont have the page fcn, the beeps were the same ones that it would make if i unlocked/unarmed it myself (as if i did, but i was sleeping and it was on the hook on my wall, so there is no way i accidentally hit the button) same noise if the trunk gets popped just two beeps. |

My non-pro only beeps if the alarm goes off or someone bumps it. That shows up clearly on the remote though.
Sounds like you may have a short in your remote and it is unlocking the car. If I use my 2nd remote to open the door, the 2 way pager doesn't sound. |

Aside from the possibility that someone is trying to disarm your car, you could actualy have your auto arm/disarm on (assuming you dont know about this feature since you've only had it for a month).
Incase you dont, check out your screen on your remote. Check the top right corner of the screen and tell me if you see a grey box with a arrow pointing downward. If so you do have the feature on. |

Repeat this step twice to fully turn the feature off, The first time will only make the icon flash. ;) |

kelleyk75- i was thinking that but it was very wierd given the timing of this, and that it never happened before, like i said i am definately on top of this due to my previous experiences.
ill test it @ lunch with my 2nd remote to see if the pager remote chirps when i use the back up. i dont think it would, which would make me think it was my pager remote that may be the culprit.
all tips greatly appreciated, keep them coming. |

| thats what my buddy @ work said, but i have already ruled this out, and i have had the older c-star in one of my other cars for years so i am familiar with the general fcns. |

| I have a compu start on my winter car and I've found it unlocked a couple of times. I always thought I just hit the button accidentally. |

when all this shit was happening my remote (the one with the screen) was set to 2nd vehicle (which i have never set it to) so it wouldnt let me re-lock/arm the car. i had to use the backup remote (non-2way) to lock the car again and then re-assign the 2 way to my car through the remote.
now if somebody has a remote programmed to my car, would this send my remote into 2nd car function?? and would my pager chirp when the mystery remote opens my car??
fuck i need a garage!, if i dont get this figured out asap this car is getting stored early (garage is going up in the spring) |

What if you just disable it through the remote instead of removing it from the car? |

I think all that happened is that your lcd remote by accident was put into 2nd car mode, by hitting button 3 and 4 at the same time. To fix all you do is hit them again and it will just toggle. If it was in 2nd car mode then you wouldn't have actually been able to lock the car and when you came to check again it would still be unlocked from before?
I've done it to myself that's why i say it. |

| jz30tt- when i came home i made sure my ride and roomates ride was locked, then before i crashed i hit query and all was good (armed+locked+all doors closed, temp in car was 20'C, voltage good etc) then i was waken by the dual chrip of it opening up and being on 2nd car. it wasnt ringing like it would if i had page, or alarm going off, just the beeps. and the thing was hanging on a key hook so the chance of hitting those buttons together is nill. |

That works as well, as long as it isnt active. |

alright after some careful troubleshooting over lunch.
button III is always engaged (not physically but acts as if it is) so every function i tried to perform it added button III, so it was performing way different fcns than what i was trying to do. less than a month old so i will be going in for a replacement remote.
fingers crossed that i will have some good feedback for the shop that did the work (I if they do it quickly and painlessly) , but i am pretty good about getting what i pay for. thanks to everybody for the feedback of what may be wrong!! now i feel like a douche for prowling the neighborhood, but i guess i have the evil streak in me wanting revenge for past vehicle lootings i have been victim of.
and at least i could actually get a good 4 am rip to my gf's place with no traffic or fuzz to hold back the right foot. |
