People driving in the left lane on the highway at a slow speed with no one in the right lane drives me nuts too. I can't believe they don't move over when I come up on them. They don't have the decency to move to the left lane.

1. Driving in the fast lane on a highway (excludes freeways like the Whitemud and Yellowhead, because there isn't a fast lane)
2. Not signaling, especially when they cut you off. If you signal, I'll let you in.
3. Not letting people in when they are clearly signaling and have no where else to go. (ie: construction merge, merging onto the freeways, needing to change lanes to exit.)
4. Tailgating, especially when your 2 billion pound SUV is not going to stop nearly as fast as my 2800lb car if I have to slam on the brakes, and I'll wind up smooshed.
5. Drivers distracted by something else other than driving. |

Like I'm driving North on 66th and I know I need to turn right at 144ave, depending on traffic I get into the right lane atleast half block to a block or two ahead of time, sooner if traffic is heavy. I hate these people who 20ft from the intersection realize, "Oh SHIT, I have to turn here" I've done it too, and if I'm the only car around I'll make my turn, but if I can't safely turn without cutting off or pissing off other drivers, I'll take the next turn or find another way to back track.. |

and to me the main thing that pisses me off is
at night when i'm driving home (i live on an acreage on RR233 and theres no street lights) so yea at night people who are driving with their high beams on and then don't bother turning them off when they see another car approaching even after you signal to them that your high beams are on :mad: |

i can honistly lane change better at 5:00pm on a los angelas freeway than i can on the fuckin yellowhead in the middle of the day. there, you put your signal light on and 95% there will be a spot open for you to safely merger. here, it seems that 80% of the time some jack ass will close the gap that was already there. then theres the ever popular alberta road block. i'm cruising comfortably around 125 on the highway and suddenly im stuck behind two douchebags doing 105 right beside eachother. the limit is 110. i better stop now before my blood pressure jumps. |

Asians are horrible drivers, agreed (I'm Asian), but a friend pointed something out a while ago that I've slowly noticed. Blacks are actually incredibly worse at driving than any other race I've seen. But hey, that's for you to decide, but just keep that in mind and see if you notice what I notice. Well, older blacks mind you. The younger generation of any race is pretty decent at driving when compared to their older counterparts.
To answer the thread though, I'm going to use a blanket term and say that i hate all non conscious drivers. This blanket term includes any and all people who possess any combination of the following (this list is by no means exhaustive):
- on a road where there is more than 1 lane, two people driving side by side at the exact same speed (i.e. mucking up a fast lane).
- failure to signal
- people merging into a turning lane that don't promptly enter their turning lane -as a result, they're pretty much taking up two lanes to make a bloody turn.
- people who don't shoulder check.
- people talking on their cell phones.
- people who refuse to miss their turn. some reason they'll stop in the middle of the road, turn their signal on and stay there until people let them through. don't even consider driving through their turn and making a u-turn up ahead somewhere.
- fuckers who don't wave when you let them in.
- if there's actually enough space for you to comfortably fit in, I hate the fuckers who try and close the gap when you turn your signal on (I acutally force my way in a lane when they do this. I mean, I didn't have to signal cause there's plenty of space, I just want to be courteous).
- people who cut you off and then play like nothing happened when you're trying to give them a little payback by lighting them up with a couple of birds. this also applies to people who give you the bird back. like wtf?
- people who really have no concept of a fast lane. they really need to be shot.
- when there's construction, people who bud the queue by going up the dead-end lane. wait your turn asshole. there's some people where you can tell that they just don't know (and I let those people in cause they signal early) and there are others where you can tell they just want to bud in line (they go right down to the end).

Another thing that pisses me off to, is when I see someone in a completely stock 35HP Neon or Sunfire going mach 8. I mean, its bad enough when a tuned Sports car is going double the speed limit...but a stock 4 door family sedan doing it? WTF? :dunno:
This also applies to cornering. I see these douches (funny thing is its douches of all ages...not just teenage douches) flying around corners and the car has so much body roll it looks like its going to flip.

I could agree with I think all of the comments made and for a trucker there is always something like people who take up your stopping distance coming up to a light NO one cares that the rig actully need thoses 3 car lengths of space and 5 cars try to cram into it...that's this morning once aging but that's a typical thing.
There is 3 things out there that really get to me,
Drunk driver's.
Stoned out crack/meth/cock/prescription drugs.
Sleepyness.
I swear if any of you that drink and drive lot's or a little ,I would so love you to see a dead or dieing person inside or out there wrecked car doing the funky chicken or convulsing with blood coming out of the head/face and all you can do is ask the 911 operator to read out some words for a last rights.
When you finally get away from the whole thing and your done giving your statement to the RCMP and drive away a few mile's you will have such a hard cry.
Being stoned at the wheel and I don't mean weed but all the other shit has mixed result's but it slow's you down overall.
Sleepyness or just complete unawareness/sucking yourself off while driving will kill you or fuck you up, I have pulled 2 ppl so far this year out of there wrecks both times from this.
I've had a few cars and pickup's wander at me so far this year and a couple of very very close calls, but my whole point is that I DON'T NEED THE STRESS, just imagine yourself coming upon a roll over and your 20 Min's from the nearest anything and it's just you and a badly hurt person WTF do you do? WTF can you do? it's a horrible test to take to see if your made of anything and I am no Dougie hosier M.D.
I am sure glad we don't have IED's popping off on our roads to add to this list...good rant thread I needed to get some of that off my chest this morning!

FYI neon's and J-bodies have more than 35hp..my wife's R/T has 150 to the crank and 122 to the wheels, I know nothing to brag about.. but it's more than 35hp.
But it's fun making the land yaht take a corner, lean and pitch like a boat on the high seas and still take the corner better and faster that the "sports car" or "sport compact" next to you. It's best when you do it to a ricer.. the looks on their faces is just priceless... I once "out drove" a porche around the 142st exit from the Yellow headfrom west bound to south bound, you know around the block exit.. I was able to match the porche's speed in a 4x4 Dakota, cept I held my lane perfectly and he was cutting corners indy style. And he wasn't putting around it. That ws funny as well.. when I got next to him at teh lights, ohh the glare I got. It's like "sorry buddy the car doesn't make you a better driver" |

cuts offs. The other day i turned left to get onto calgary trail beside whytemud crossing where the library is. For those who know the southside you know there are two lanes leading to calgary trail but one ends after you pass overtime grill. Anyway, i was driving my 66hp 1985 crx and made the left hand turn to head towards calgary trail and i see this truck behind me speeding up. There is another car less than 2 car lenghts in front of me and that is being generous. I notice the guy decides he needs to be in front of me. He ripped it into the dead end lane and started gunning it. I figure fuck, i am going to get hit hard if this douche bag tries anything. sure enough the dead end is less than 10 car lenghts away and the fucker is about half way up my car. he decides fuck it and cuts me off more than i have ever been cut off in my life. his truck was literally i would give or take half a foot from my front bumper. i thought he had hit it. What do i do? i look at him. He is laughing...... I lay down the horn for the embarrassment factor on his behalf. I let it sit for 2 minutes giving the finger out of my window while we sit at the lights beside finesse furniture. At the next lights i pull up beside him and in my hand i have my tire breaker bar lol while swearing at him in such a hate filled voice. Both are windows were down at the time so he heard me. I wasn't going to use it but i picked it up and the guys face dropped and he ripped away when the light hit green. Maybe he will think twice before cutting someone else off. Maybe he wont be so lucky and he will actually meet someone who will get out of there car and start bashing the car up and eventually him.
I am understanding if i see a person honestly mess up once but if they continue to make traffic law infractures i get pissed about everything. |

I agree with most about turn signals and distractions, but most of all wat really gets me is ppl on Belamy hill who have half their cars out of their lanes and expecially in the on-coming traffic lane while taking the curves.
Reminds me in Egypt where some ppl think that u should centre your car on the dashed line. But mind u driving there made me one hell of a defensive driver i can spot most shit before it happens.
I once made comment to a guy who was taking up two lanes by drving on the dashed line and he replies "Do u think u r in Saudi?" cuz they actually obey the law there. |

old people who drive 45 km a hour on the sherwood park freeway and there view of the road is inbtween the top of there dash and under the top of there steering wheel. you are a hazard take the fucking bus.
People who I meet at a red light and feel the need to rev there engines and attempt to race me.
Truck drivers as in semis not checking when changing lanes what the fuck is next to them. my mom almost got killed by one of these guys. and in the mountains driving faster then 110 km a hour. my parents while on vacation saw 4 accidents. 3 involving semis in the BC area, one flipped the trailer crushed 2 passenger vehicles a driver of a small 4 door sedan was killed at the seen. (a ford explorer was crushed to the point where the roof was level to the bottom of the window sill.) SLOW THE FUCK DOWN.

The dumb fucks that stop at merge lanes.....there is a special place in hell for you. |

I saw a truck(newer chev) on the highway the other day.. at night.. Drivers front no bulbs, Pass front headlight and 1 out of 2 markers, and on the rear 1 drivers marker on.. no other bulbs working...
Bulbs relatively cheap and easy to replace.. Sure.. some just burn out.. and maybe I'm seeing them before they've had a chance to fix them.. but when I see a $50,000+ vehicle with more than one light out... it's just GRRRR.. |

I HATE people that try to change into my lane (while I'm occupying the space still) in the middle of those intersections.
Like it's Illegal to lane change in an intersection, but to do it on a dual lane turn intersection is just fucking stupid and dangerous.
See it ALL the time at the Yellowhead X 127ST Intersection. One of these days I'll be driving the work truck and ..... Squish!!! And don't think I'll waste my phone minutes calling someone to help you either.... morons..

Overtime I've become quite friendly with my horn. Both my truck and tracer have had the 12volt ones replaced. Thats how often I use the horn. Like fuck I'm driving in this spot BLASSSSSST. I ain't afraid to use it. Better than someone running into you. -giver shit. |

I'd be pissed at that too. Admittedly I try and ash somewhat courteously.
I was at a red light once on 105 street. completely stopped. threw my cigarette butt out the window. This guy on a chopper comes up to me and says, "use your fucking ashtray!"
I told him I don't have one and added a "so fuck you". He gives me the finger and speeds off.

If the issue is littering, that's fair enough. I don't litter (like ever) with the exception of the butts out the window. Too lazy to buy an adapter ash tray thingy. |

76th ave and 109st.
Only one lane goes straight across 109 and the lanes on the right are meant for turning right only, they even put new signs up with right arrows on them. People see someone turning left and go in the right lane to go straight. As convenient as it is, its a very unsafe move. It's just asking for an accident as the other people turning left across you cannot see you. I can't wait to hit someone going straight in the turning lane when i'm turning left there and get free money. This drives me absolutely nuts. I wish a cop would just sit there and give people tickets. |

our terrible traffic light system. there is NO reason to stop people at every light, time that shit so that traffic flows, not grinds to a halt every intersection. less wear and tear on your car, better mileage, less accidents, people will be less stressed out.
people that drive like assholes in pieces of shit. I drive fast and hard at times, but in the middle of the day in medium to heavy traffic, NOT the time to drive your mom's shitty tercel like a race car swerving through traffic so that you can make a turn 2 blocks down. |

People who refuse to drive the speed limit.
Burnt out taillights on anycars, i mean honestly hello danger.
People racing down busy streets.
Being cut off.
tailgating.
people who stop to merge.
People who block the middle of the intersection during rush hour.
People who dont look for pedestrians while they are turning left/right or blatently do not stop for pedestrians.
People who neglect to shoulder check.
The cars on the road that are being held together with duct tape and or string that looks like a grade one tied it. If you do not have money to take care of your car; you should not be driving.
People with unsecure loads.
Throwing of ciggs out the window has always bothered me. Its annoying, its disgusting, and can cause damage. |

I absolutely hate this, and what is worse, is I see this most frequently out of any of the pet peeves posted in this thread. It's too bad there aren't enough cops and bylaw officers to lay down more tickets on people that litter.

on the left turns especially in millwoods withouth the seperate left turning lane, you face nose to nose with the car turning left opposite the intersection with 1 -2 lanes to cross to make the turn, You can't see fuck all and they can't see anything. Who made these intersections...
Diesel trucks with exhaust that is at your windows height... Ever have one of those accelerate past your open car window and fill you up with black smoke.
I leave a respectable distance in front of me in case anyone slams on their brakes, I hate it when people think its an open oppurtunity for a lane change and cut that distance in half , even worse when its an SUV or same size vehicle and they entirely block your view.!
I get my revenge though, I sit in traffic with my windows rolled down and Techno music just cranked... Might be an asshole move in bumper to bumper traffic, but I found my way to make the commute useful. |

There have been many times in the winter when some asshole comes speeding up behind me, will flash his lights or whatever cause he wants me to move. Sometimes I will sometimes I wont but more times than not that same asshole is in the ditch a couple miles off the road. |

I almost got smoked by a taxi behind me once... I was cruising along.. thought there would be enough room for me on the other side I saw traffic stop... so did I, but before the intersection... If that cabbie was any closer he would have been attached to my hitch |

In my experience, people in the USA and other larger cities in Canada usually follow each other very closely, and cut it way closer in lane changes than they do here. For example in construction zones, where they have a lane blocked off, all lanes are backed up right to the barricade where they all change off at the last minute. You don't really see that here, you get the occasional person using that lane and generally cutting people off but for the most part most drivers just wait in the lanes and leave plenty of following distance during normal driving. |

1) When I let someone in.....then they drive 10 to 15 kms below the speed limit! :mad: Needless to say, they get passed very quickly.
2) Morons in big Dodge Trucks. Yes...you are in a big truck, Yes, I see you 2 inches off my bumper, Yes..you have a small penis, yes..my car is faster and can stop faster than your truck, No, I am not afraid to use my brakes.
3) People who intentionally block intersections when I am trying to get across. I like my horn and I have no problem pulling up to your door, laying on my horn and leaving it there, making you embarrassed and look like a moron in front of all the other drivers when my light turns green.
4) Road hero's who insist on blocking traffic in the left lane trying to enforce the speed limit with the car beside them. You are only annoying me and stopping me from getting my next speeding ticket! :lol:
5) People who try to force their way into my lane when they had ample room to move over 5 blocks back. I pay for my insurance....do you? I think my paint will look quite nice on your fender. I will tell you which body shop I want my car at. For a parked car when it is not supposed to be parked that is a different story, but when you see construction signs for quite some distance back reading "THIS LANE ENDS" You are not getting in front of me at the last minute. I had to wait...so do you.
6) People who try to "close the gap" when you try to merge on a roadway, freeway or highway. For some reason you always end up behind me at the end.
7) People who litter on the road. Makes me want to stop, pick up their garbage and at the next set of lights throw it back into their car and say "You dropped this on the road". I would like to, but I do not. They are normally driving the beat up pos vehicles.

yesterday coming off of stony plain road to 170th theres two turning lanes and this douche bag old guy decideds that the lane im in is going to be his cause he cant notice the lines on the road where he is susposta go to the far lane. so we turn he cuts me off gets out starts to yell i tell him to look at the road and learn to fucking drive.
he then goades me on and tells me to tell him to his face. now im not one for violence but if he made a move toward me/my car he woulda gotten a shit kicking. my friend was in the car and we were ready to lay a beat down. but he was smart.
i just dont understand when people get so "road rage" and think they are the boss when if he realised that there is two turning lanes he would be in the wrong. fucking old people. |

Here's a pet peeve and a half - this just happened like 20 minutes ago -
I was driving back from a meet by west edmonton mall at like 10:30 at night, and I was in the left lane of the road which was perfectly empty except for one small-penis-mobile (jacked up pickup truck). Pretty cut and dry, right?!?Well this fucker comes speeding up in the middle lane from behind me, cuts me off and misses me by just inches (no signals...go figure) and runs me ON TO the median. FUCK! :asshole:
So he drives off and I'm stopped with the driver's side of my car up on the median (basic 4 inch curb) walking around my car making sure there's no damage and all of the sudden the red and blue lights start flashing behind me. The cop walks up and the first words out of his mouth are "Do you know what the fine for wreckless driving is?". So I told him what happened and he asks me if I want to file a report as if based on the description of "A jacked up truck", they would surely weed this guy out of thousands and give him his cummupins. Neways then the cop let me go. I need a beer now. |
