Help! Lost My Keys! - Click HERE for Original Thread

HCR32
Hey guys I seem to have lost my keys to my 180 and now I can't do anything with it... I was wondering if anyone knew where the key code is on the car or if it even has one... Please let me know as I need a key for it ASAP or if anyone has a hook up for someone making a key from scratch... Let me know... Thanks!!

If you have the registration and VIN number, you should be able to go to Nissan to get a new one made. :dunno:

do they need to have the vin on file type thing? cause im not sure if they would have a jdm car on file...

Oh its a JDM...yea, thats gonna be a tough one. Might need to replace the ignition.

I would recommend phoning them to find out more.

I lost the keys to my Skyline. Had to call a mobile locksmith to come cut a new key for the ignition.

Had to provide a bill of sale and id before they'd do anything.

there's a code on the side of your lock cylinder. they have to take apart your door panel to get to the lock.

you can tow your car to a body shop to get this done. just tell them that you want the code from your lock cylinder (i.e. take off door panel, take apart lock, get code and then put it all back together).

bring this code to your car's dealership (i.e. nissan) and they can make you a new key based on that code.

Was this expensive?

there is a good locksmith shop on 101street a few blocks south of ericsen nissan. they have made keys for some of our jdm cars. take them the ign if possible as well as the code. but the door lock with the code should be enough. take proof of ownership. shouldnt be over 50.00 cant remember for sure.

I have an AMA membership. They came to my house, and made a key for me right there. It was one of those AMA vans with the "SAINT" license plate on it. It was really cheap, and I didn't have to move the car, or take it apart.

I bet any mobile locksmith could do the same.

weird. I called AMA and had to tow my hilux to 2 places before they were able to get a key made. some reason the AMA dude said he couldn't cut me a key on the spot (forget the reason).

also, another awkward thing is that my ignition key was a touch different than my door key. I don't know how that's possible, but I suppose my situation is the worst case as dealerships will usually charge around the $110 mark to dismantle a door panel let alone pull out the key cylinder and put everything back.

Maybe JDM keys are different and locksmiths here don't normally carry them?

I needed a key cut for a Canadian market first gen RX7, so it was just an ordinary car key. Maybe that was the difference........
