On behalf of Speedway we'd like to extend an invitation to all those that believe their driving abilities are exceptional and yet haven't had a chance to attend any race meets.
While we don't believe ourselves superior to any other, we do think that this is the perfect opportunity for Edmonton area shops and groups to actually put all the smack talk on pavement and finally see WHO is faster. Because at this point, we've only got a bunch of people with mouths faster than cars. :D
No excuses, no shit talk, just racing, because racing is what it's all about!
Please also remember that spectators admission is FREE, so we want to see a ton of people out there!
There will be a get together of competitors, spectators and friends afterwards at the Boston Pizza in Fort Saskatchewan, everyone is welcome to come by and say hi! |

Bring whatever you feel the most comfortable driving. It may be a timed event but its suppose to be a FUN event for everyone involved. Having a car that doesn't work or is to much of a hand full to drive doesn't make this kind of thing much fun. ;)

Rules are nearly the same but as it is competitive there is a finer line obviously. :)

There are a few switchback s's on the back straight and a very wide chicane just before turn 1 to prevent entry speeds from being astronomically high thus preventing any serious problems. This was also the only way they would give us competition insurance for the event. It is still VERY fast. |

can't really base it on the car its the drive but the variety of drivers have lapped times from 1:30 - 1:06 . depends more on your driver skill then you HP :)

| If you worried about wrecking your car I would personally recommend coming out to one of the first regular lapping events next spring. Those events are not timed and are focused on driver skill more then fast lap times. |

Origionally the rules called for a SA 2000 helmet, because we were basing the rules off the NASA rulebook used in the states. Pat was by the shop picking up some parts for his ITR and he commented about it. Shane and Jon from the Mr.Heavyfoot also commented about it to me via email. We reviewed there comments and decided that as long as the helmet is Snell 2000 or higher it should be ok. We are going to be checking helmets for tech at this event. So thats likely what he was talking about. Hope to see the Mini out there.

On a side note, you guys are running a good event and it is only going to get better and I am willing to support any events that forwards the cause of true track racing.
THe only way road racing will be viable in this city is if we support these type of events.
As much as I love zipping around cones at Griesbach.... the track is where real racing occurs.
I am hoping as stratotech begins to benefit from the number of organizations that want to hold auto events on there facility that someday we will see a full fledged race course.
Keep it up and I hope you guys succeed in making this a regular affair.
Someone PM me already....... otherwise Midnite and Ryan (NSX) may end up having a cage match to have it.

its not speedway that decides this.....u gotta remember ppl still live around strato....its not bud park in the middle of nowhere....in respect to the ppl who live around the track and the track operator/owner there are no excessively loud cars alowed |

I really wonder what makes you think people should come to you for driving advice. Its also to bad you couldn't take time away from your busy schedule of making up excuses to come to the event and show us all these so called skills. :rolleyes: There will be many people at this event far more qualified to make these kind of comments, and they seem to have no problems what so ever dealing with the sound limits on full prepped race cars. |
