Looking at buying a newish vehicle next year. I could have 8000 as a downpayment.
I would love a truck but I doubt I could get a decent one in my price range. right now just started a new job 28k a year.
My 92 F-150 is beyond my scope (time money) to restore. not only that it I would not get my money back out of it.
I want some suggestions for something newer that is cheap. I would love to go diesel route but there big and expensive to fix but incredibably fun.
What would I be looking at.
P.S.
Definition of truck is F-150 Dodge Ram 1500 Cheverolet 1500 to 350 3500 respectively.
Nissan Titan. nothing smaller. |

I know a guy who just got a nice Ford quad cab F150 4x4 I think an 2004 or 2005, he makes about $35K/yr, and had about $4000 down.. so it is possible.. His purchase price was $28K
My neighbour just got a newish van from Team Ford with $8000 down, Single Mom 4 kids, NO JOB!!!!!....
I dunno what their payments are though.. I think my neighbour is in the $350/mo range.. |

The general consensus for workers in the patch is
Dodge = best diesel engine, weak front ends
Ford = junk
Chevy = good all around, sit too low. weak tranny on the duramax
Nissan/toyota = Put all the above to shame but for diesel you're stuck with NA trucks.
If you want to try for a truck Dodge would give a loan to a passing gopher if they could. |

the titan is awesome but I am sorry the new thundra does not impress me at all.
imho the thundra is a pos truck that should not have seen NA shores. tow hooks under the front bumper. frame twists under load. compared to a f-150 all toyota has is a powerful engine but that will chage with the new BOSS line from ford.
and for duramax. I would not touch them I seen at AAB 2007 every gmc and chev the cab and box twisting under a 4wd launch. no thanks.
as for Dodge. I love the cummins but honestly it comes in a dodge wrapper.
I know you guys are trying to help but I said no diesels due to maintenance costs if they break. if I was gonna get a diesel I would get a 97-98 powerstroke single cab long box 4x4 in decent condition. olde body style rules and pre 99+ 7.3 psd engines had forged rods.
I was pricing out a 04 f-150 and I think I can make payments on it. |
