Playing around with the new camera mount tonight - Click HERE for Original Thread

ChromeDragon
I really want to make an extension for this thing, or just a different mount altogether to get it further away from the car.

Check out that glorious beardage!

Looks sweet Matt!

What lens are you using? Also, how are you metering exposure? I assume you have a remote shutter?

Jamie

ChromeDragon
This is just the shitty kit lens, unfortunately it's the widest thing I have. Stop it down and it's reasonably sharp though.

Yeah, I have the IR remote as well.

Edit: exposure is all manual. Just set it and shoot a bunch. People were probably getting a little freaked out just watching me turn in circles in the best buy parking lot.

EK9Hatch
Do you have a pic showing your arm thingy mounted?

Jamie

ChromeDragon
No, I don't. It's just a suction cup mount with a Manfrotto 3-axis adjustable tripod head.

NightmareMX6
Really cool Matt
Too bad it looks like someone has been beating you with the ugly stick lately.

Sounds dangerous!

The weight of the camera/lens/tripod head isn't enough to break the suction?

I'd me scared to loose my camera. What camera were you using? Digital Rebel?

You should take a pic...I'm interested in seeing how you did this.

Jamie

ChromeDragon
This mount will take like 30lbs, my little 2lb camera isn't going to break it loose.

4thGenLude
those are some pretty cool photos matt

Hey

I just realized who you are.

NIce pics by the way.

Where did you get that mount???? locally?

If you used a Canon .... I have an 18-35 L if you want to try something a little wider.

Somehow this pic reminds me of a scene with Paul Walker from "The Fast and The Furious"

I bought it online, place called filmtools.

The lens I'm using is just the shitty 18-55 kit lens. Sadly it's the widest thing I've got, but stopped down it's reasonably sharp.

I really want to buy a 10-22mm, but that's a ton of money for a lens that's more for fun shots.

OR you can make your own and use the industrial suction cups for installing glass that can hold 400lbs haha i almost pulled my sun roof out with one cause i couldn't get it off haha

Orzel_pl

First thing I thought of. Epic.

Go_Lancer_Go
thats cool, i was going to buy one of those and try it.....

Hey, ChromeDragon, u can rent lenses from mcbains i believe, why dont u rent a couple, test em out, and kinda use em whenever u wanna do some fun shots?!

ChromeDragon
Meh, not really worth the time and effort. I'll eventually get a 10-22mm, just not right away.

Mavrick
wow Matt, those shots are awesome!

4thGenLude
Wow Mavrick. Welcome to check the forums a little more often than once a month.

Mavrick
If I had as much spare time on my hands as you obviously do, maybe I would visit the forum more often. Thankfully, they archive this stuff for a while so that I can have ample opportunity to view it, so for that I am thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too, buddy.

SO this thread inspired me to get a heavy duty camera mount....... one of those with the industrial type vacuum mounts...

So it holds 70+ lbs.........so I was trying it on different surfaces....

SO I am showing the wife......look I can put it on the wall no problem...

Pump... pump... pump....... pulls the paint/paper covering the drywall right off the wall...... Perfect circle.

The wife was not impressed with the new toy..... but I was...

:D

Had to tell someone.

That's a nice lens. I'm thinking about getting one as well, also looking at the Sigma 10-20 (aperture is not as wide as Canon). What other glass do you own?

Not too much. 70-200 F/4L, 28-105 F/3.5-5.6, 50mm F/1.8. That's it for the Canon, then I have a few primes for the Mamiya medium format.
