Where to go on a saturday night? - Click HERE for Original Thread

euro_trash
Hey everyone
I am planning on going on a date tomorrow, but don't have any idea where to go. I will be picking her up near Whyte ave, so that area would be nice to stick around. I havent been on a "first date" for a looong time, and this is the first time going on a date with a girl I never knew before hand, so I do want to make a good impression.
Any ideas? I was thinking either just coffee or drinks, but not too sure. Drinks seems like it would be better since it would be a little more laid back and more of a laid back environment. I was thinking a lounge, but I don't know where to go!
Any help I could get would be awesome, same with any first date advice.

Personally I think doing some sort of activity that you can talk/joke about while you do it to help break the ice.

Whyte gets pretty nuts on a Saturday night, probably not the best place for a first date. Especially right now with all the new UofA students discovering it.

I'd suggest Metro downtown, you can play some pool then grab some good appetizers and it's usually a pretty laid back atmosphere, just don't go too late. They also pour decent pints.

I got a better one. Go to Joeys in south edmonton commom. Very nice, lighting is awesome, drinks are great, environment is awesome, both of you should have a good time and if you both get hungry they make killer food

Joeys in the south is exactly what I was thinking for atmosphere, limits me to 1 or 2 drinks though since I will be driving, but no biggy I guess. I like the billiards idea though. Thanks for the help!

no problem. i have never had a bad time at joeys. I went there after my car got t boned and i still had an awesome time. It was pretty funny. I was getting slammed off spiced rum and cokes and gin and tonics and the 3rd gin and tonic the waitress asked if i wanted to make it super sonic. I said sure thinking it would be stiffer and she brought back a glass the size fish bowl with a fruit platter on top of a slushie..... i took a sip and sent it back and got another real gin and tonic

Make sure you ask whats in the drinks if they try to upgrade them on you lol

It's obviously too late to make a suggestion now but....BILLIARDS?
For a first date?
Really?

That would probably be one of the last places I'd take a first date.
Hell, why not just go to the strippers?

My recommendation:
Go do something that is a bit more gender neutral & is active.
It should be something you enjoy as well cuz if you're not having a good time, then she won't either.

To be honest, the thing that popped into my head just this moment is going to a nice & big kids playground.
Being that it's at night, it'll be deserted and it won't seem as "childish" either cuz of the time of day (ex. all the bright colors and kiddy toys will look totally different when just lit by moonlight/streetlamps)

Go play tag or do some kind of obstacle course that you can challenge each other with as you create it.

Be spontaneous.

Go have dinner at a nicer restaurant, cuz being that it's Saturday night, any of the more "casual" places will be louder & rowdier.
A nicer restaurant will be louder but normally it's pretty quiet so the sound level should be good enough that you two can still talk.

As dinner finishes up, if there's still life in the evening (i.e. some decent chemistry between the two of you and you still want to spend more time together)...just all of a sudden go, "Hey! There's been something I've been dying to do for a long time!"
Grab her hand, run to the car, dash away to the playground and just goof around like when you were 6 years old.

The spontaneity, you taking charge in making the decision, the "mystery" of where you're taking her, and the softer playful side of just goofing around will be quite appealing to your lady friend.

Assuming she isn't stuck up and takes herself too seriously.

Good luck!
