| ok, is it possible to paint your tail lights dark? maybe some kinda clear black paint? |
|

Yep, it's possible. It is also legal to a certain degree. You'll have to check up on the laws or whatever. But if you don't want to paint your taillights, you could get smoke lenses. Smoke lenses are a piece of plastic made for your car and it's tinted black already. Here's an example:

The left hand side is without the lenses and the right is with the lenses.
Here's another example. This is a headlight one, but it's the same idea as the rear ones:

If theres room, you could use window tint on it...
say if there is a clear pastic cover overtop of the colored stuff, you could tint that :)
depends on the car... I know I could do mine.. but it'd be a pain in the ass

nite-shades spray tint:

You can get it at JB's for about $12/can |

As far as I know it is actually illegal to do this, any change to the intensity of the original mfg's lights is not allowed. Check with Officer Jim to confirm this though.

P.S. I know for sure that the GTO covers are illegal, that's why it says 'Off Road Use Only' on the package. |

That's what I use & sell too (that's right - SELL!). Check out my sig, "More of Bone-Evil" on page two near the bottom of that page for actual pics of how it looks afterwards with lights on. B)
As far as the "illegal" issues are, so far 3 years no problems! B) |

Mine were about 4coats,you can do as dark or light as you choose.I never got busted for it,in the day they look just a bit dark,at night they were black, but the red light shines through regardless.

You actually can remove it after it is on your car. I had a paint shop remove mine when the car was in for some work and they removed it perfectly. You couldn't tell it was ever there. I'm not exactly sure what they used, but they mentioned that they polished it off with something or other.
And for the very reason that schlong69 mentioned, I would never put the stuff on again. That is the main reason I took mine off actually. |

| I re-did mine a few times, you actually have to sand it off or some sort of abrasive or checmical remover. |
