Scratch one silvetop - Click HERE for Original Thread

SilverFire
Well, it looks like either the guy I got my car from was lying, or was lied to himself. My "40K 2 years ago" silvertop spun a crankshaft bearing on Saturday and the mechanic that I had look at it was sure there was more than 350k on it. He figures it must've had a ring job not too long ago to explain the good compression, but everything he could see was just plain worn out.

Anyway, that means I'm looking for a new bottom end. Anyone know where I might find one in town? I wouldn't argue with a long block either. It'd make the turbo build a lot easier when the rest of the mods are done.

Thanks!

P.S. I'll be calling Project Omega tomorrow to see if they have anything, so don't bother suggesting them.

Sorry to hear that you need a new motor. At least it gets you going on your turbo plans.

SilverFire
Yeah, that was the laugh I was having at the shop. Yes I wanted to rebuild it, but NOT NOW... I have a bunch of supporting mods to do first... EMS, Methanol injection, not to mention the whole turbo setup...

Oh well, what can you do... I might go out on friday anyway though - rockin' the backup vehicle!

huntsean
Which backup? The bicycle or the RX-7?

If you do go, let Garrett know that I haven't forgot about him. I still have those rims & tires if he is still interested. I won't be there as I am going to the Doucette concert that night.

SilverFire
I couldn't take the RX-7 if I wanted to right now... The steering gear is out, and I haven't got a new one...

I probably will make it, so sure... Just to make sure, Garrett is the the guy with the British guy right?

Have fun at the concert!

huntsean
Garrett is the one who brought out his girlfriend once. He has the AW11 with the unpainted scoop. Greg is the british one.

If you're out for the cruise & meet afterwards, I might make it out after the concert. Concert should be a good time.

SilverFire
Well, I found an engine. It should be here for Friday next week. Unfortunately, my step-brother that was going to lend me his truck, car-hauler and garage is off to Banff for that weekend, and his neon blew up a couple days after mine and it's on the trailer. So no more truck etc. (I volunteered to help him load & unload it, but no.)

Does anyone have access to one for cheaper than I could rent? I just have to get the car to Desro's from Whyte and 99th. I can get the engine shipped there direct.

If you can do it Thursday, that'd be sweet 'cause I don't work Fridays and will be able to get started earlier in the day.

Also, is there anyone with experience willing to help out? I pay in beer...
