Where can I find a JDM h22a swap in Canada? - Click HERE for Original Thread

inFluX
Yesterday I hoped into my '92 Prelude.. Start it up.. Look in the rear view.. See I huge cloud of blue smoke. :crying: Blue smoke is there while driving as well.. I was just going to sell it in 2 weeks to look for a '94-'96 SRV since my '92 is just a S (non vtec) I've also only had this Prelude for a month!

Anyway.. I'm taking it in tomorrow to see what it needs... rings.. pistons.. head gasket no doubt.. If it's going to cost a stupid amount of money to fix the worthless engine before I sell it I would like to just buy a JDM h22a with tran, ECU, Harness... the body on my '92 is great so I wouldn't mind doing this.

I would apreciate some direction as to where I can buy the swap in Canada.

Hopefully in a month I'll be driving a Prelude worth while being in the EPC :fingersx:

I got mine through Deiter at Matrix Motorsports. It came from Vancouver and took about a week to get here. If you'd like to know more post or IM me as i just completed this swap in my 93 lude S(RV)

Here u go...don't know if the thread is still active tho...the guy's in the states, so you'll have to find a driver to drive it up (he says "in the back of a truck, it's totally legit")

Your prelude's that silver one sitting at Midas last week right?
If so I saw it, very nice car if it wasent smoking, someone mentioned to me that you ran nitrous in it??

I took the prelude in this morning.. man the smoke was sooo bad.. it was like I was driving the bat mobile and I pushed the tear gas button..

anyway...

They looked at it.. the guy popped the hood.. started it up reved on it.... he stuck his face in the smoke and breathed it in.. he said its not oil that its mostly water so its a cooling/coolant problem he said.. the head gasket needs to be replaced. The muffler tips smoke for half an hour after shutting the car off which he said shows that water is being evaporated.

Said it will cost $400-$800 depending on if something needs to be machined and anything else needs to be done.

Soooo.. I'm biteing the bullet.. paying for this.. then I'll sell it.. and look for a '94-'96 SRV.

Nope.. the silver one isn't mine... I got a black Prelude with shaved off emblems/spoiler/antenna

That would be mine. I don't remember seeing another 4th gen there though - must have been away. And yeah it was on the bottle. Don't know if I'll be running nitrous to the new engine though.

What happened??

Well to make a long story short got a used engine and the damn thing dint last more than 20 days. The company warrentied it and it took 4 months to rebuild and just got it back a couple weeks ago and now this engine they rebuilt is shit! and Midas and Alberta Honda both also agree.

Now i'm going to take them to court but in the mean while i'm counting my days.

Man thats rough! Hope that it all works out for ya :fingersx: Which engine was it anyways?

If anyone cares.. I got my Prelude back from the shop.. turns out whoever the previous owner got to rebuild the engine put 3 out of 4 rings in upside down. Which is what caused the horrible blue smoke... $1,400 later after the block was machined.. rings were replaced.. head gasket as well.. It's running better than ever. I wish I would have known it was going to cost that much or I would have just coughed up another grand for a jdm h22a... Oh well.
