Weird Situation at work - Click HERE for Original Thread

How do I deal with co-workers who are newer then me?, They do not listen at all to me or my suggestions? Yet they ask my foreman and 100 percent of the time he says the exact same thing as I do?

Tell my foreman?

Well, unfortuanaly thats the problem, they are ass kissers and the foreman just loves the two friends, One just started 3 weeks ago and hes getting the crew truck I was promised 5 months ago!

When i saw this I flipped out and said Im fucking sick and jumped in my car and left this morning...

I dont know what to do, Im gettin fucked around royally and my senority doesnt mean fuck all? Im the most senior guy there..

Im getting all the grunt work and all the other guys are stand arounders while I work,

What kind of work do you do? If there is lots of work in your field go on a few job interviews. Come back and say you've been offered another position and if he doesn't start recognizing your contributions you're taking it.

Find any means to make them look bad, that they do not know what they are doing. Make them feel stupid!! All in front of your foreman too.

your fucked. a friend and I did this when we got jobs at toyota. we made friends with the managers first and ended up going out drinking with them. the became our friends very fast and made the rest of the place look bad. we were allowed to slack for the better half of the day, stroll in late, and even have many days off while others did not get the treatment.

You have two options. Quit and find a new job, or like the above, try and fuck them over. My friend and I lasted a year before we grew tired of the place and people all hated us behind our backs, some in our faces. It was sooo fun, so much drama, so many good memories lol.

I am not trying to be a dick and i understand what your talking about. i am just giving perspective from the other side of the equation.

Also i recommend sitting down and actually talking to him. if you do that odds are you can work something out and get your boss to realize the hard work you have done and are still doing.

Sucking up is exactly what new hires are suppose to do. when they do that they look like angels who want to work and will do anything. It makes the rest who have put there time in look bad because they feel they don't have to work as hard anymore. You can look at it as a cycle.

... That will do it!!!

OR... Get another job offer. I was dicked around by a previous employer, I got another offer, and suddenly I was getting phone calls from my boss with better offers, transfers to different cities, anything not to work for the competitor..

.. I'm now the competitor, sticking it to them...

But if you're not too fond of negotiating, rail his wife.

arabian_ryda
id rail his wife weither he neg or not.

If it's not your job to tell people what to do (And it sounds like that's correct, you're just a worker. If you're actually a supervisor, then it sounds like it's title only since people bypass you) then why the hell would you expect them to listen to you? Lesson #1 when working a blue collar job is to follow what the important people (foreman, owner, etc...) want, not what other co-workers want.

You're making a mountain out of a molehill. If you don't like the way you're being treated (No company vehicle), then talk to the people that are causing this treatment.

Communication and logic are the key. Sit down with your foreman (Or whoever is in a true position of authority) and explain your concerns. Then, discuss how to remedy them and set out timelines/goals for each. Then, when the goal/timeline is met you have a case to go to the person in charge and demand the end result.

If they back down and lie straight to your face (By going back on the agreement, which should be written BTW) then you know the type of people you are dealing with (selfish sons of bitches) and make a decision then on what to do.

The biggest problem with people is that things are said in passing by a supervisor, then the person assumes the supervisor remembers it, has the ability to grant it, will follow through with it, etc.... As an employee take the onus on yourself to write out the goals/rewards with your supervisor. This will serve to them as a reminder of what was agreed to and reinforce what was said.

Dealing with employers to get what you want is extremely simple, you'll find that with the right strategy that, in the end, you'll get what you want or discover the true nature of the company (As they'll be forced into lying to your face if they go back on the agreement).

Got put on another crew, I start tommorow on it, same pay and everything just doing a little bit of paving instead of manhole/sewer crew..

More oppoutunities for advancement, and more hours until the end of the season! hope its good!

Well it was a nice (awkward) phone call from my boss tonight lmao

Thanks guys

Adam
Maybe you suck at your job and the others are better:dunno:

My brother has had bad dealings with people in road construction and switched crews as well. A lot of the people that do this type of work are not mentally stable.

Some jobs that don't need education you can expect to find some queers and 'mentally unstable' people for sure..

HAhahahahahahahaha great post. i posted one comment. I know everyone disliked me for their reasons and thats fine. Either way, we were allowed to do what we did they way we did it because we went out several times with them, went to the strippers with them, and were the only 2 people other than the sales people who got invited to managements parties. We made friends with people we knew would allow us to do as we pleased.

Funniest part is that it was people like you, bitching about people like me to management, and it was you guys that were trying to give me orders to do shit, when people like you had no say in what i did. It only fueled my management to give my friend and I priority over work and allowed us to sway what management would do.

I do think its funny. Funny that some people power trip because they have senoirity at jobs where their senority means nothing. Maybe if i was working my way up the corporate latter it would mean something but a job at a dealership when your 18 as a lot attendent means i am considered the bottom of the barrel. Its pretty obvious the only way to stay away from being the "bitch" of the work place is to make friends with the right people fast.
