calgary has soo many nice cars.
sitting outside the bar on saturday a bentley continental gt and a ferrari 360 modena spider pulled into the gas station and waited til their buddy in a cls55 pulled in, then they left.
beautiful cars! |

Amazing. This summer was awesome for seeing exotics around town. I haven't seen so many in one summer before.
Sweet faces on the guys in the pics |

| in the very first pic of the lambo, how do you get just the car to have color and the rest of the pic is B&W, i love those kind of pics. |

| If I had the $$ I'd probably do my exotic shopping in Vancouver, at Gentry Lane or one of the other shops down the street. I just can't picture myself willingly buying a car from that Zahir (sp?)creep in Calgary. |

| The problem with exotics in our region is that they are just a check in a box on some guys to do success list. None of those cars will be raced at a track, driven hard or really appreciated for what they are. Looks are one thing, performance is a whole different animal. |

You do realize the risk of total loss (without insurance coverage) racing at a track, right? If you happen to be participating in a HPDE at Race City its classified as a "school" as long as there is no timing and you still have a chance with your insurance company (like the Ferrari a few years ago that got covered for its write-off). But if you crash during any kind of timed event out there: solo 1, etc. you are SOL.
There might be lots of rich yuppies running around the province that can afford to buy or lease these exotics, but how many can actually afford to completely write them off out of pocket? |
|
|
| aarrgghh |
| Acutally I've met the guy with the 430 spyder and he takes it out to race city etc. |
|

Yep, I've been out lapping at Race City with a 430 and new 911 at the same time. I can't blame most owners for not wanting to race theirs, fact is you can buy a faster racecar for way way way less. The cars are purchased more for status and image than anything else.
Along the same lines... has anyone noticed how many Porches there are in Edmonton? I don't mean just Boxers either, I see tons of Carrera's and Cayenne's everywhere. Must be house money. |

When I was car shopping Zahir was amazing actually, he gave me a tour of his store and started some cars for me, he took a lot of time out just to help me. I didn't buy from him, but he would definately be high on my list if I did. |

Ditto for me when I was at ZR auto, He showed me around the shop and was really friendly as well. I am a sucker for the ferrari 348's. Not the nicest looking or the fastest of the bunch but I really liked the Magnum PI model and the 348 is just the evolution of the 308/328. |

Haha, that's funny when I was there I was looking at trading my NSX for a 348 they had. In the end I couldn't justify it though, the NSX is the better car. |

i would never/ or have a very tough time purchasing a car from ZR auto aswell. I find Zahir to be extremely arrogant and ignorant. Also i have heard from very close friends in the industry that lamborghini was not getting along with him and have revoked his privilages to use the lamborghini name and do lamborghini warranty work.
I would however purchase a car from weissach in vancouver without any doubt whatsoever. They are amazing, always willing to help and are always very courteous and knowledgable.
Also Kulu in calgary is also a commendable place to make a purchase. |

| 180sxforthewin |
| The guys at Kulu are good guys. I went to meet my dad at his office and while I was waiting for him I went in to look around. The guys were all chill and didn't mind walking me around there showroom. |

| MX5 Miata Guy |
There are TWO Mercedes SLR McLarens in Red Deer -- owned by the same guy (who also, without so much as a comment, dropped the 40G per watch on the two watches per car that any purchaser can order through Mercedes -- total of $160,000 for four watches!!!). He's got five other AMG-MBs in his stable too.
There is a BMW Z8 in Red Deer as well...plus one in St. Albert.
One Porsche Carerra GT for sure in Edmonton (I know the guy who drove Mario Andretti around the track at this year's Champ Car Race in it -- owned by his boss).
A number of Lamborghini Gallardos -- white, green, and black are common sightings for me.
Lotus Elises are fairly regular nowadays...in a relative way. |

The gentleman who owns the 2 SLR's also has an S65 as well. The unfortunate part is that he beats the shit out of them. I have had to paint one of his SLR's and the s65 already |

Road and Track, and Car and Driver both said that the NSX was the better car.
Judging a car by the name plate alone is stupid. |
|
|
| Invalid Zero |
| And an NSX won't need a $10k service every couple years. |

Go compare the two for yourself.
I was looking at the same car that Cody was. There's no comparison at all, the Acura is a way better car than the 348 in every way. |
