Mandrel bender - Click HERE for Original Thread

Focus Guy
I have realy been looking very hard lately and am close to a descion about buying a mandrel pipe bender, this would be capable of bending sizes as small as 3/4 inch to as large as 3. Just looking to see how many of you would be intersted in cutting off the old crush bent piping system and going for one peice mandrel cat backs. One piece meaning it wouldn't be severl small bends it would be one custom pipe section. This means T304 stanless, full alummiun, you name it can bend it even chrome alloy roll cage metal. Just trying to see if there is enuf interest to justify the very large cost.

cool :D

dmak_el
cool, about how much would a 2.75" stanless cat back for?

DeathRat
You do realize a "TRUE" mandrel bender costs a min of $80,000 Cdn for a used one right? Right now there is only two in all of Canada too! One in Quebec & one in BC! All others are just imitations of a normal pipe bender with different jaws. A true Mandrel bender does 2" upto 4"-6" pipe too BTW! ;)

No had no idea they would cost that much. I have only spent about the last 2 months looking into this, and get your facts striaght, any mandrel bender can be built to custom spec if you got the time to wait for it, ours will do from 3/4 to 3 inch pipe. Being that we have used pipe benders for over 20 years we do know what the differance between a normal pipe bender and a mandrel bender is but thanks for the info.,, oh ya and by the way the are over 4 fab shops on the south side and 2 in leduc that have "true mandrel" benders, however they are not for retail use only fab work. But then again what do I know?

Hell yeah dude, get one!

I'll need to get some larger piping next year.

I didn't mean to upset you man! I can come on a little strong at times, sorry. I use to work for Midas too & IPL's Warehouse as well! ;)
I was talking about the mass producing benders that will punch out most pre-bent Mandrels pipes, sorry.

REFLUX
mmm....rollbars

won't be considering one anytime soon, but down the line...probably

gotta see how competitive your pricing will be for 3" exhausts
but it definately interests me :)

drastik
as long as the pricing is decent I'm sure you won't have a problem finding customers. It could take a while to make back the investment... but it is just that, an investment.

I say, do some serious research, and come back to us with numbers so we can give you the  or  .

SplineZ
I'd love to get a decent priced true stainless 3" exhaust w/dual dualies :)
cant wait :)

I'd be very interested as i've been looking for someone to build me a 2.5" SS mandrel bent exhaust system. As long as your costs are reasonable i'd be all over it. I'm looking for exhaust for an Integra, 2.5" as i stated mated to a 2.5" hf cat with 2 resonators built in, can you do that?

ManHunter
There aren't enough people on this board to let you know if you can justify buying a mendrel bender, Steve. :)

But go for it, My exhaust piping has hit the road often enough now that I'll need to change it soon. :)

SilverZ24
Which midas are you at?

I already have 2.5" mandrel bent cat back piping, but I many other people that would be interested in getting custom ones done locally. :)

Nightstalker
Hey steve I talked with you about this a while back man I thought you were saying it would take way to long to make the money back again ? Things have changed thats great. :D

How much do you think it would cost for a basic aluminum roll cage for a eg coupe ? get that in brushed aluminum and it would match the look I wana go for perfectly

little_one_der
Midas;
how much would you guys be charging for custom exhausts?

Focus Guy
At this time I realy have no idea what kind of costs will be involed in custom jobs it will probly be about two thirds higher than a normal custom system in that size,

drastik
Steve,

I think what we're all looking for is pricing. Before you go out and buy it, figure out what you'd need to charge to make it worthwhile... and let us know.. It's one way of judging if it's going to be a decent investment.

If you buy it and then have prices that no one will pay... well, that's not all that great of a business move now is it?

ClubEL (AzNBonD)
pricing that'd be competitive with the custom crush bents (that are oh so common) would bring in a lotta people.

when i say competitive i mean relative to.

little_one_der
another question about the bender... will you guys bend anything? i.e. a friend of mine needs a roll cage, and bed bars for his off-roader.... would you guys be able to make one?

RallyCivic

I want a new roll cage!

and I dont want to sent my car bc to get it done right.

2003specv
I'd be all over that Sh!t for sure!
