bought my car no more than 2 weeks ago, has driven perfect since, but today when i am accelerating from third gear up to fourth, around 80-90 km/h my steering wheel shakes violently.
Lower speeds nothing at all happens, but as soon as i reach those speeds my whole car basically shakes. Somebody, anybody tell me what the hell might be wrong? |

having the same problem with my integra and to this day i have yet to fix it, due to my lazyness. From what i read it could be numerous things.
tire balance
wheel alignment
bent rim
Axles
CV joints
and more i guess.
i'll leave the rest for others to comment and to add to the list |

| check to see if the weights fell off, check your ball joints, wheel bearings, ect |

well take a look at the weights they will either be sticky weights or hammer on type.
If they are sticky weights chances are if they didnt fall off in the first day they wouldnt fall off at all. But look for the resien/adhesive left behind by the weights.
If they used the hammer on weights look for a weight on each side of the rim, if there isnt look for slight scratch/marks where the weight could have been (might be difficult if the rims are banged up).
If you went to a cheaper place like Canadian Tire they only have two types of weights, a generic coated weight (mc's i beleive but may be wrong) and regular steel weights. The coated weights they had (for alloy rims) dont work great on any rims other than domestic (gm, chrysler, etc) and may fall off. If steel weights are used its pretty hard to fuck up, the tires should still be balanced.
That being said a lot of cheap tire shops (*caugh* Canadian Tire *caugh*) are manned by guerilla's. The problem with guerrilla's is that although they get the job done, they are idiots. Guerrilla's tend to hit the weights to many times and with too much force. Hitting the weights too hard causes the clip of the weight to seperate, become loose and possibly fall off. When the weights fall off the geurrilla's are confused, they dont know what has happened. Little do they know less hitting, is more hitting.
Anyway bring your car back to the geurrilla's if that is who balanced them, they should check your balance for free. if your new tires are over a 55% profile you have little risk of bending a rim unless you ran over one hell of a pothole, which you would definatly remember. You can look at your rim when its on the balancer to see if it is bent.
Hope that helps |

| Grab a tire iron and make sure all of your wheel lugs are tight first off. Then lift the car in the air one wheel at a time and see if you can shake the tire around. Should give you an idea of where on the car the problem is. |
