windshield removal (without breaking it) - Click HERE for Original Thread

Prudz_lude
curious how this is done? i need to take my windshield off for someone who wants to buy it. Same with the rear corner windows and rear windshield. The problem is i have no idea how to take them off since they are siliconed in. Thanks in advance!

Fish_e_o
cut them out... have fun...

Piano wire or sime type of metal wire maybe a guitar cord works well. feed it through , then a person on each side pulls it around. It has worked well for me in the past, I found the really tricky part is the actual moving of the glass for which I would recomend getting some of the big glass suction cups from princess auto or something.

Its urethane or some other thick rubber holding it in. You have to get it cut out. I would just get a professional to do it. Try jeff's auto glass, really fast and good guys.

ive seen my dad do it at the wrecker when i was a boy, he used the ebrake cable and did what jordanturbo recommended. just yanked it out and used it to break the seal all the way around.

i was grounded for a week from playing hockey for breaking that window- haha

If you don't want to use wire, etc, etc.... Princess Auto actually sells the tool to remove windsheilds. Might be worth the $5 it probably costs.

lol i dont recommend the tol from princess auto at all....tried it when i was doing the RHD conversion.....piece of crap the blade broke off in the silicone....goto NAPA and see about getting a better made one....

Carefully make a hole lol. then feed it through. Careful not to scrape the paint or the car will rust (asusming it isnt a parts car)

ahaha no it is a parts car. Its almost just a shell. It has the glass and suspension and wiring left on it. Thats pretty much it.

for me the weather stripping was soft enough that I could just force the wire through, if not maybe a dremel of some sort with a fine bit at a low speed
