right before it came out in the US there was this big thing about how 'iphone' was already trademarked or copywrite here in Canada to a seperate company (I think it was a VOIP service?) and that they were not going to sell the name to Apple. Apple also didn't like Roger's data plans or something along those lines. So it was questioned if Canada would even get it.
Apparently it was supposed to be announced today that Rogers would get the iphone in time for Christmas...but something changed and the announcement was 'an upgrade in the data service for Montreal and Brampton'.
I'm not going to get an iPhone anyways... I'd rather get one of the new CDMA Blackberry Pearls coming out... I just hope Bell gets it. |

Dont always believe every rumor you hear though. Apple was in talk with rogers only a month back or so, but... Apple and rogers both did not like the terms they would have to agree to to release it. Now this will probably only slow it down a bit(rumor I heard last was possibly close to summer next year after the 6 month of europe contract of locked phones expires), unless of course apple decides they want to make a cdma version, and telus wants to suck their balls to bring it exclusivley to them
Oh and I couldnt wait for it to come here lol, I had to have it now and let me tell you I wouldnt give it up for any phone out there or on the horizon. Imho this phone will still be ahead of the game even if it takes till next year to be released here. With the ability it has for upgrades and now 3rd party apps the phone is really limitless, and I dont care what any reviewer says

That link is the source for the debate about using the iphone name in Canada.
I think it will sell well here, and I know Rogers will get it if anyone (because Rogers/Fido is the only one on the GSM network) so if apple wants it here they gonna have to either make a CDMA version or give Rogers what they want...
Overhyped and overpriced in my eyes. but everyones to their own opinion on the thing :D |
