Hello MR2 club - Click HERE for Original Thread

It's good to see there's a club here in Edmonton for MR2's. I just stumbled across you guys by accident.

I have an 86 MR2 parts car that I'm using to build an 85 MR2 into a rally car, for performance rallying in Alberta and BC. The 85 has a schmucked front end, so I'm bolting on pieces from the 86, which is all rusty in the back half, and has lots of other problems.

I need to find a good source for a coilover kit which will RAISE the height of the car (need ground clearance for those rough roads), so any help there would be appreciated.

Anyone have any stories about APC or Ground Control suspension kits for MR2's?

Welcome to the boards...

BTW, by chance do you have the following parts from your other car? And if for sale?
1. driver fender
2. rear wheel wells (L/R)
3. side skirts (L/R)

Welcome rexxrally !!!!!

THe only coilover kits I know of for the mk1 are made by groundcontrol. Do you know of the guy in vancouver, bc that rallies his mr2 ?

I think Drscam might know him

ND4SPD;
The bodywork, in general, on my parts car is not in good shape. But, I will check it out the next time I see the car (it's in Camrose; I don't get to it very often) and, if they're in good shape, sure, I'll sell them to you. I have no idea what they're worth. We can talk.

SuperMR2;
Do you have any experience with the Ground Control kit? Is it any good, or is it really cheaply made? Obviously, with the pounding that cars take in rallying, I need a durable coilover kit.

Yes, I've met Budd Stanley and seen his car quite a few times. Unfortunately, his method of car building is to leave it stock, go out and break it on a rally, and then home-build some replacement parts for it. That's not really how I want to build my car. I'd rather build it durable in the first place, and not break it at all.

Sorry Rexxrally. I personally don't have experience with ground control but a friend with a turbo civc has them and they seem alright. I don't know how they would the withstand the abuse of rallying though. Usually ground control is one of the better coilover kit companies out there.
