Hey guys, I need some help with picking the right clutch for my setup. Right now I'm sitting on 353whp and around 310wtq. Those numbers are from a Dyno Dynamics with no corrections added ... aka low reading whore of a dyno ;p. Stock STi will put down around 200-210 on this.

I can't do 1/4mile runs on my car, the stock clutch will not hold the power so I need to upgrade but I have no idea what would be a good choice for clutch upgrades and shops locally who do good work. I'm not in a huge hurry as my current clutch isn't actually toast ... ie, not slipping on 4th/5th gear WOT pulls. It just can't hold on a hard launch.

I have some more plans for the car that may include pistons and cranking up the boost so I need a bit of leeway with that in mind. Can anyone recommend a proven clutch, design, or general maker I should be looking at? The car is a 2006 model.

okay so im not sure of brand names or anything but as for a shop that IMO does good work and is trustworthy is the Mister transmission on 63rd ave and like 97th street ish. they did the rebuild on my 68 newports 727 torqflight.
just to give you heads up though the lo-cost transmission on 34th ave and 99th street ish is pretty shady IMO didnt like the way they did things at all hence why i had the rebuild/upgrade done at mister transmission instead lol!

its something to start with good luck, car sounds awesome.

How much do u wanna spend?
How do want the clutch to feel?
Daily driver? or weekend driver?

Act or exedy are a couple of decent starting points to start looking at.

EK9Hatch
ACT or ClutchMasters...thats all you need to know.

Is this Andrew?

Your clutch decision depends on what you're going to be doing with the car, what kind of normal drivibility you are looking for, and the lifespan of it.

I've had the privilege of installing and testing numerous setups in different hp applications.

The best streetable clutch is by far the ACT superstreet.

Exedy Hyper clutch makes a decent Single plate,

Exedy's Twin disc will be my choice it should hold up to 600ft/lbs of torque, but you'll be paying upwards of 1500USD before shipping.

Stay away from SPEC and Centerforce.

I would recommend installing the clutch yourself. Its a heavy transmission, but not that hard of a process overall. Just remember to use loctite and proper torque specs.

any clutch that can hold 310 hp daily/track will not be a bitch.

twins are very nice, depends on material
triples can be iffy depending on the material
quad, well i will leave it up to your imagination;)

you have no need for any of those three:p

I second the Exedy if you want a good clutch. Tilton's are less that streetable.

Does OS Giken make a clutch for your car? I'd take one of their twin's over anything really.

Sweet, thanks for the replies guys. And yah, Aaron, this is Andrew.

As for drivability, this is my daily commuter but I don't mind sacrificing a little bit of comfort for performance. I'd rather have a clutch that will hold up well on multiple race days than one that's easy to drive. There's also a good possibilty that I may take the jump to a TSR70 in the future so overkill on the clutch choice might be a good idea too ;p.
