shawley
normally i'd love to go snowboarding, but i'd rather drive

so snow snow snow please go away and come again another day

Wookey
I'm not gonna lie. I'm pretty stoked to go snowboarding this year so it can snow all it wants:D

95EagleAWD
I'm not gonna lie either... I had a fucking ball driving home tonight.

And it's nice to come out of hockey into cool air.

And I'm pumped for skiing. We should have a 780 ski/snowboard trip sometime.

newaccorddriver
not too fond of the snow myself since i cant drive the skyline anymore, but its alberta and ive grown to expect it alot earlier then it has come. i consider that a bonus for being able to drive my car for an extra month before storage

b18c5crx
i bought a skyline for this weather, now if only the container would hurry up.

I can't wait, it has been a while since my ass has been planted in gtr seats.

Madhouse
Studded tires - check
Subaru AWD - check
Snow - check

Sounds good to me!

Then you leave them behind and they can have beers ready for you when you get back.

BLK_LBL
$1,000 240sx + winter tires + no regard for my cars condition = one hell of a winter ride.

im pumped for boarding this season, its going to be good

fugumerkur
IM almost thinking I might get the Merkur fired up just for winter, it was too much fun driving that car last year.

Heated seats and brand new winter tires!

But then again, I won't cry if someone hits the mustang this winter, get some winter tires on there and flush my heater core and it should be a fun winter, also its been so long since I ripped around in the snow in a mustang.
I would so be down with the winter rallycrosses too.!

SilverNeonRacer
I just need to get my clutching fixed on my sled.. then let it snow.... 3ft dump would be nice.... 2ft I might be able to work my way to work with the car.... then again.. I'd probably be one of 4 out of what should be 600 at work :P

I have to agree here.

But really, i usually only snowboard with 2 or 3 different guys cause usually noone else can keep up or doesn't want to go off cliffs, jumps, rails or hike to get some decent pow.

I'll go anywhere you want to. Hiking, airtime, into the backcountry with beacons, whatever...

b18c5crx
you guys are so car negative towards snow all the time

GOT BOOST
When did it snow?

I just got back from a week in Toronto and Winnipeg. Noticed the snow on the ground from the plane before we landed.

I tried to organize one last year, but it didn't go anywhere. Maybe its just that everyone on here doesn't like me? :dunno:

Lets go, I can't fucking wait to ride. This is my first season back in edmonton since my 2 in whistler, so my mountain trip budget is off the wall. I'm seriously going every weekend.

same here man, im so pumped to start ripping.

ive been selling a shitload or gear at work and its just getting me fuckin pumped for the snow.

but im a skier, so i dont know how you boarders take to that:p

euro777
when there is powder, ride it.

thats how i organize.

so many times i have been a part of planning a big trip just to get to panorama/fernie/lake louise to find the conditions are shit (especially panorama over new years 2005-06)

so the best plans are no plans at all, just be ready all the time. and when the snow report is good grab some -freinds/wax kit/beer/various spices/portable bbq and hit the hiway. ill be the guy grilling burgers in the lot at lunch (i fucking hate resort food)

That sounds like the best plan. I am sure there will always be a few people going to the mountains everyweekend. If we do make a trip we need to go to fernie. That mountain is my favourite. 4 mountains, and they are all 3 times as high as jasper. Powder is unrealllll. There is no board park but the launches i have made with friends make up for it.

We had this one jump that had a 40 foot run up going off the side of a drop/hill and had a pit. The landing was the down slope of another hill. My god was that ever fun. That was back 4 years ago when i could still do all my tricks. Pretty sad, after that year i quit because of an ariel trick gone wrong until i went again last year. I can't believe i quit haha its sooooo damn fun.

lowslowcorrado
fernie actually had a pretty decent park a couple years ago. The jumps were a good size. Small enough to learn, big enough to be fun.

gtaylor
im not as much of a fan of fernie as i am sunshine/lake louise/kicking horse.

the back bowls and chutes of louise and sunshine are crazy.
wild west at sunshine is prettty sick:thumbup:

has anyone here gone down silvercity? ive been scoping it for a while and im thinking about possibly going for it this year

AcuraNation
Outdoor Rink ftw. 780 shinney or what?

im in for that

95EagleAWD
Sunshine sucks... it's flat and windy. The ONLY good thing about Sunshine is "the Dive", and you need beacons, probes and shovels for that... I dunno how many people are up to that.

I haven't been to Louise in a while.

Fernie, Kimberly, Pano, those are all great hills... Fernie's wicked bowls, Kimberly's disgusting snow amonts, and Pano's just plain fun.

Realistically, Marmot would seem like the place to go. It's close, it's a good hill and there's good bars in Jasper.

THUD
I saw them making snow on sunridge while crossing the beverly bridge, I look forward to catching an edge once aging and face planting.
I am looking forward to the fun in my car but not the super slick black ice.

95EagleAWD
Yeah, watch out for black ice.

We already wrote off a truck on the highway at Brinks this week. Rolled it end over end after hitting black ice.

SilverNeonRacer
We had freezing rain last night... whole town and highway were a skating rink

the dive really isnt all that great either, unless you know your way around it gets very skied out.

imo wild west is the better "extreme" run there, and you can rent the avalanche packs from anywhere in canmore for like 30bucks.

also, hiking up into wawa bowl is usually pretty solid, same with almost anything off teepee town (even tho the chair licks nuts)
