I was dumbfounded when I saw a white envelope in the mail today from the EPS. I opened it and it was a goddamn photo-radar ticket from the night of wed, June 4th. It was on University Ave & 119st where the road is double lane both sides and twists around to the north. The bastard was tucked in among the bushes/hedges on the side street.
Anyone else from the NECC get one? The thing is, I know we drove by there in the convoy on the way to Hawrelak Park, but that was later in the evening. The timestamp on the photo is 8:07pm which is about the time I was heading to first meet everyone at oliver square.
Wasn't cheap either... $140 for 73 in a 50.
GODDAMN!!!  :pat:
Oh well, it was my first photo ticket in SIX years. |

| I haven't checked yet... but Jason, MAKE sure you GO FIGHT that ticket, at the least they'll give you an extension of time to pay it and reduce the fine.... :) It always works... :D |

That's horseshit! $140.00 bucks jesus it's not like you ran a red then didn't stop at a stop sign then changed lanes without signaling and last but not least bumped a damn cyclist into the bushes.
By the way those are damn nice rims and tires!
Good luck and God speed :o |

How do you fight a photo-radar ticket? The picture is very clear, there's no doubt its my car. And I don't know how I could contest the speed claim, although obviously I have no memory of my exact speed at that exact time. It says right on the ticket about the testing and calibration frequency of the the radar equipment.
Seems like pretty iron-clad evidence against me.
On what basis could they reduce the fine for me?
And what kind of reduction are we talking about? Enough to make it worthwhile taking a day off work to sit in court? |

my dad has had all of his reduced by like 1/2 price and extended by months.... You could pay $70-$90 or the $100+ ticket.... you decide if it's worth taking the day off... :) You should just go down there when you have time and say you weren't driving the car but can't remember which buddy was that weekend and they'll reduce it for ya... or should! |

| I'm glad tardiness has its consequences, I haven't had a photo radar in 6 years either. I was on time, no ticket for me. Good Karma and respect for fellow NECC members could save you a ticket next time. |

| Yeah, I remember slamming on the brakes on the way to Hawerlak. |

Excuse me?? Respect for NECC members? WTF is that supposed to mean?
I didn't know on the night of June 4th that I was holding people up by not being there at 8:00pm sharp. If you recall, I was surprised when I heard that we were heading out right away on a cruise. IF... you guys were all hanging out in the restaurant/bar having drinks & wings like at previous meets I'd heard about, what would it have mattered if guys had trickled in anytime between 8-10pm? |

it doesn't matter that you were late, you drove in minutes after me :) So still try and make it out to the next meet, you'll have to show off those wheels :D
That university road or whatever is where I always watch out now... they have photo going both directions throughout the day at all hours and it really pisses me off!@
Stupid cash cow, but still I'd rather be photod than lasered, since they can't prove who was driving there are no demerits attached. |

Your lucky it wasnt for more.. that road is nice to speed on with the slight curves and such :) Its totally a photoradar area tho.. both ways ALL the time..
They like to hide where you got dinged... all the way from the cross cancer institute, down to the top of the hill that leads to hawrelack... and on the otherside, the other way, after the kelor road entrance going towards 114th, and in the bushes at the top of the hill coming from hawrelack.
Sneaky!

Bastards, eh!
Its not like my speed was wreckless & dangerous. It just happens to be exceeding the posted limit "technically", therefore on a "technicality" they can write you a ticket (as per the law)... just 'cause they can. Nice.
I'm really going to have to watch myself in the future. Now that I've got new wheels, my new rolling diameter is slightly taller meaning my speedo will be reading ~ 3% low now, which in turn means I'll actually be slightly faster than I *think* I am. |

damn radar traps..yeah that night, my radar detector was goin off like crazy!..I was about a block and a half cruising about 70 ish when I looked in the rear view and the van was hiding by the hedges...good thing for the radar detector. I mean if you guys want to invest into something like this and not get ticketed, by all means go for it. I think it's worth it
sorry to hear that bro. |

| Thats definatly a crappy deal Inzane. I've had my car about a year now and I'm glad i havent got any tickets yet. Hopefully the ticketless trend will continue for a while... :fingersx: |

thats true, invest some GOOD tool is always good, lets say 500 bucks for a dector, next time no more worry, i was even think about the jammer thing, i think it cost around 900 bucks from JB's. that way when the cop shooting the laser at you it wont even show them anything, crazy tool.
but once again, if you dont speed, you dont need those investments. if you choose to speed, then you deserve it. |

Yeah, sadly it might be time to start seriously considering a Valentine One or an Escort 8500 detector. They're about $500-$600, eh.
I used to have a cheap Bel 540i detector, but it falsed ALL THE TIME and I got complacent with it and that's partly the reason I got nailed a lot about 5 years ago. I stopped using it in 99 and had been detector-less AND ticket-less until this photo ticket. |
