Okay, stainless will not rust, and high heat paint will burn off.

High heat paint will burn off? Im pretty sure they make paint specifically for headers.. its called.. VHT Flameproof. I actually coated my turbo downpipe and a header neither of which ever burnt off.

Really? Did you cure it properly? cause if not then thats the cause... mine was done properly and lasted a long time... Or maybe you have abnormally high egt?

Prudz_lude
make sure you wrap it properly. Some have wrapped it incorrectly and condesation can get in there and rust it to death. I have read a few horror storys about how the owners have taken the wrap off a year later and the header was almost rusted through. I have no clue how though.

Yeah... headerwrap is rarely done properly... most people just slap it on and call it a day...

well it doesn't really burn off...
i did follow the directions to a T because it's not the first time i've used the paint. the only thing it doesn't work on is the header, it gets hot then it stats to crack and flake off. no amount of prep work on the header as proven to increase paint life either

my egt's can get pretty high, my header glows bright red after i put the engine through it's paces...

That could be why... my EGTs max out around 1300 or so... rarely higher... My header also never glows bright red :P I think you are to the limit of the paints temp threshold thats all.

Have you installed the header already? If not, just save your time and go get it ceramic coated. A few people I know have had it done for about $150. Will work better than the wrap and you can still show off your header.

i know this might sound gay but i always liked that wraped header look and my wife and i have wraped heaer last night it was freaking pain in the ass to do it would be nice if wrap was sticky like tape... still need to take my OEM header out.. i'm hoping to get it done by friday... right now i have everything ready to go all the tools including o2 remover..

Best way from what ive seen is to get the wrap wet first so it stretches, then when it dries it will shrink down some and be tight.
