BWA HA HA HA HA HA

This has got to be the funniest thing I have read in a while. WTF. It is a halloween costume. Some people are WAYYYYYYYY to sensitive.

Julie Myers looks like a whiney cow.

We tend to misunderstand the black & white divide that exists in the US, for whatever reason. You can bet that a white man dressing as a black convict would go over like a lead balloon in some quarters. "Blackface" or a white man wearing black make-up, is a huge mistake, especially for a politically correct climate like a government gathering. White performers in black make up mimicked blacks and reinforced a lot of racial stereotypes.

Blackface, from wikip

So, no, it's not really a harmless gag.

But black ppl can make a movie like "white chicks" and mimic white girls...

I love my world.

meh...

It's a Halloween party where people are supposed to dress up. If this person was dressed up like this any other day asides from Halloween then yes..there may be an issue.

What is to be considered offensive next on Halloween...dressing up like native Americans? Maybe some overzealous religious person will get offended at the sight of someone dressed as a demonic figure.

In my opinion this whole racism thing is blown way out of proportion.

People have a right to freedom of expression and speech. Kind of ironic is it not.

It is not up to me to suppress that right wither or not I agree or disagree with it.

It's because racism doesn't count unless you're white. Everyone knows 2 things, 1)all racism comes from white people, and 2)all white people are racist.

Simple yo.

Unforunate but true, but I dont agree with number 2.

The white man cannot get offended by a black man dressed up as something they may find offensive. They have done so much wrong doing to black people, they would just be whiney hypricrit jackholes for doing so.

I feel that if you are african american and you are offended by something like that you are just as bad as a native canadians demanding to be spoon fed everything in life. Salvery happened hundreds of years ago and its your race that is continuing to demish itself. Rap music, gangster movies, movies with black directors that choose to focus on poverty stories revolving around and african american who grew up in a ghetto and has to sell drugs and gang bang to get out of that mess.

It happened many many generations ago and the current generation really has no link to those mistakes. Granted there may still be a few, but they are a number so mininmal.

If you look at the media today it is asian, african americans, middle eastern people that are insulting their own races and keeping their sterotypes alive. Go watch stand up comedians. Thats about all you have to do. Most of the white guys only focus on sex and politics while every other race will focus on racial humour. Do you guys know one of the reasons Dave Chapelle stopped his show is because after listening to all his fans he realized he actually DID set african american culture back a step?

What have I done wrong?

Seriously, people need to stop living in the past.

I think we are all a bit removed from the topic here in Canada, but racial tension is a reality in the U.S., and if you judge it out of context of the history you are not seeing the whole picture.

To put it more simply, change the costume to a that of a white guy in blackface carrying watermelon, fried chicken, and quart of malt liquor and you get how some people regard "blackface"...or more locally, a negative native example such as a costume of a white guy dressed as a drunk Indian with a booze bottle.

Bad Wayan's movies aside, the race issue will never be judged on a equal basis for many years. Right or wrong, the past imbalances still affect the way things are dealt with now. Take a look at any job description you see, even here in Canada. There is almost always a notice about people with disablities or visible minorities getting special consideration.

Nothing, I'm not pointing fingers here but I guess that was a little one sided. Just that I think no one can get offended by something without looking at themselves and asking.. "am I a little racist aswell?"
