Wanting some added fighting experience before I enter a Kickboxing tournament in 3 weeks, I decided to go to a "Sparring" class.
Well, nobody told me this class is for the competetive athletes. I thought it was just a general class for people who want to "spar".
Anyway, 30 minutes and 5 fights later, I was done... thanks to the Raptor:

I think in those 5 fights I ate the mat twice (thanks to being winded), got a contact sucked out of my eye, and bruised my good ankle, making me an absolute gimp.
5 years of Tae Kwon Do experience was next to useless against the Thai fighters.
It's funny when nobody compliments you on your ability, but instead commends you for "having the balls" to step into the ring with some real fighters, LOL.
"Man, you sure suck, but you got up a hell of a lot faster than anyone expected after that knee to the stomach!!! I think I would have packed up and gone home that second!"
Better luck next time Chris....

Hey, it's like people always say, you only get better if you go up against better fighters. Just like any sports, if you keep playing against someone that's almost your level or not as good as you, you'll never improve as fast
Unfortunately kickboxing takes a lot longer to recover from after a tough match |

Well, I'm only starting to compete in tournaments in Kickboxing, I have my first one in 3 weeks.
Muay Thai is still kinda new for me. I go to National Kickboxing in Calgary, with Mike Miles.

| How do you condition your shins to take hits, I swear when I played soccer that was the sorest spot to get hit. And Thai boxers nail each other's shin's all the time. |

You bite your tongue and take it like a man.
Supposedly the pain goes away.
I can tell my shins are a bit tougher, but I still cry like a girl when I block leg kicks with my shin.
A famous Dutch fighter named Dekker I think retired with 150 bone chips in his shins. Pain is one thing, but not injuring your body may be another. |

But to answer your question Terry, I don't kickbox, seems like fun, but way too easy to get injured, and at my age, if I get injured, it'll never heal.. lol |
