Yes, do not waste your money on the original Rebel. The step up to the Rebel XT is more than worth the couple hundred extra. Better processor, faster shooting, faster focusing, less noise at higher ISO and I could go on. All in all it's just a much superior camera. Most people will never even make use of a 6mp camera's full resolution in prints, so I wouldn't be so concerned about the resolution once you get up to that level.
