stratotech hard on brakes! - Click HERE for Original Thread

aarrgghh
Yikes, apparently I overheated my rear brakes enough at stratotech to crack the pads. New pads are on just before I order the stoptech's. Grrrrr....

... this post is worthless without pics... :p

Stock rear pads?

Regards,

aarrgghh
Yup the stockers. I'm about to order the front upgrade and I'll also be getting a stock sized stoptech rotor, lines and Hawk pads for the back. Weird thing is the stock setup seemed fine the first time I was there two years ago. I must be driving the car harder :)

Wow. Truly amazing.

You will notice a difference even with the stock sized Stoptech rotors and Hawk Pads. All stoptech rotors have directional vanes for better cooling.

Are stock rear rotors on the 350Z vented?

I ask because on the Z32 all stock-sized REAR rotors are solid (ie. ventless).

aarrgghh
Had to go check, but yes they're vented. I'm pretty sure it was the full abs from entry to apex on turn 2 that one time I went in way too fast that did it. Brakes were faded out for the next few turns, but then felt ok. A squeak developed over the next week or so. I took it in for an oil change and expected that I glazed the pads, but apparently I did much more than that. Oh well, I least now I know I made the right call to adjust my mod schedule.

Well then Jeff...what's next? R-comounds to stay ahead of Jason? :neener:

Rob,

I can't find the smilie that's playing a fiddle, but hopefully you can make it out more often next season.

aarrgghh
I'll settle for keeping up! R's are probably next on the hit list.
