Muay Thai Kickboxing here. I love it. I used to compete on a pretty high level in Tae Kwon Do... so now I'm trying to get back into competition, but with something new. It's gonna take a while to get where I want to be.. but I think I can get there

did you check out the fight at rum jungle then? my training partner also trains at maximum and had an extra ticket but i didn't go. i should have though i heard it was pretty good. they're supposed to be having another event in the summer... but it'll be at a bigger facility since the turnout was pretty good.

I trained 7 years in (now) Green Dragon Kung Fu club, and 4 years in Wing Chun.
Currently, I've been studying Jeet Kune Do concepts which is a mix of Silat, Escrima, and Arnis. No Sifu's teach this out here either, although there've been a few JKD Training seminars over at BSM Martial Arts Academy.
Yeah, the guy at Maxximum Martial Arts really knows what he's doing. I really want to get into some of the submission fighting styles he offers, but they're too expensive for me at the moment. Plus it's a bit intimidating when you're practicing submission fighting with a guy who's twice your size
I'm currently seeking someone who teaches Capoeria, anyone know of any Capoeria Sifu's out there?..

I didn't make it to Rum Jungle. I did however go to a card our gym put on here in Calgary. I forget what it was called. There were about 12 bouts, headlined by my Gym's very own Trevor "TNT" Smandych (sp?). That was probably the best fight I ever saw.
My gym is having an all girls fight card here in February. I'll probably skip it, but it'd be good nevertheless.
I go to National Kickboxing in Calgary, with Kru Mike Miles. The guy is a legend. YOu should see the pictures of him in our gym, with Benny the Jet, Peter Cunningham, Bas Rutten, etc..
Andy, I think there is a Capoeira instructor in Edmonton. At the U of A there were posters for a seminar about a year ago. Never like dancing though

There is huh?... Now I'll have to find him...
As for "dancing" When was the last time dancing looked this cool:
http://www.bilang.net/videos/Sampler3/Relampago-Sampler.mpg
http://www.bilang.net/videos/Sampler2/Albertville2001-Sampler.mpg
Two Capoeiristas Sparring:
http://www.etribe.de/Capoeira/movies/capo1.mpg
Some Wushu stuff:
http://www.bilang.net/videos/Sampler2/Wushu-Sampler.mpg
Well if you come across any info about Capoeira, let me know, thanks.
There were two thing I want to focus on, one is submission fighting, and Capoeira.

I figured you ppl would be good ppl to ask.. What should I pick up? I did a bit of TKD.. A bit of boxercise.. I want something that'll work on my body and help me vent stress.. Nothing like.. Tai Chi where I'd get too impatient

BlueTurboEGG
What are your goals?, do you want fitness?, competition?, defense?...

Hey andy, did you say BSM academy? I trained there for about 6 months a few years back. I actually thought his grappling was good for street use and loose can back that up All he saw was the sky is you know what i mean. I wouldnt mind joining him again. He offered a wide range of different martial arts training which you could pick and choise from. I wouldnt mind kickboxing and grappling again.....
Its time to claim the belt from Loose again

Uhhhh, Okeee big guy.

This is our fight history:

-I kicked your ass for 2 years
-you went to BSM and kicked my ass once
-I kicked your ass for the next 3 years
-I drunkenly challenged you to go at the Plant, you kicked my ass, I was bleeding, I tried to get back into the bar, my hand froze to the door handle, we got inside, I projectile vomited 4-5 times in the washroom.
-we didn't fight for 2 years
-fought 2 weeks ago, I hit you about 8 times, you hit me once, and I hit the dirt
