 Some of you guys maybe didn't get my point last week when I openly asked where you thought you would be "drifting" here in Edmonton. LOL

If you're out DRIFTING on public streets and bouncing off curbs, well.... sorry, you're idiots! :gay:

Don't say I didn't say "told ya so".

Kids can see it on tv and think "cool" and read about it in all the latest tuner magazines, but to think you can just go out in your car and automatically have the skill required to pull nice drifts like the pros..... BWAA HAA HAAA!!!

redbaron303
It does take practice though.... wonder where you can practice safely, don't think city streets are a good place to do that... ;)

1mns13
I suppose that's why you don't see Z32s drifting.

What do Z32s have to do with anything wrt this thread?

SRBURG13
Drifting in the rain doesn't count. Dry pavement man. But keep it on the track. ;)

i do agree that alot of kids can seeit on tv and just go out and try it but liek chris said practice makes perfect and practice involves making mistakes and i dont think that anyone who has the SKILLL as you say Inzaze has never recieved some sort of damage to thier vehicle. And mark if you heard the whole story i was swerving out of the way of some dumbass in a truck and understeered into the curb i wasn't intentionaly looking to try and drift it just kind of happened that way.

I agree. I can imagine that drifting can wreck quite a bit of havoc on a vehicle, probably more wear n' tear potential than auto-x + drag combined, not to mention the high potential for costly mistakes when you f#$k up (and you will).

Sorry to hear about your curb incident.

redbaron303
Hopefully your rides alright steve, did you get that persons plate # at all??? You can report them for dangerous driving or something and probably have them pay for your damages!

Ya, practice does make perfect... where to practice though??? A large parking lot in the middle of no where b/c we don't have a track??? That may be the only option for now, unless you want to try and make it to calgary or try and rent the airstrip (namao) for this sort of thing! Like dragging and autox it's a lot easier to say "keep it legal" b/c there is a lot more support and facilities to house such events, but not for drift yet! :(

And damages to car from drifting, I have an option drift video and there is a lot of damage that comes to some of these cars... "ziptied" bodykits is the cure, haha!

Z32s are something to talk about. The name of the thread. Just like calling people idiots except not derogatory. Thier great GTs, but not popular drift cars.
You brought up drifting so I figured that it was acceptable discussion. Does this make sense?

blk240sx
yeah my car is fixed i took all the parts of my parts car so it's all good now

I didn't call YOU an idiot, did I? I said if people are drifting on public streets, they're idiots. I didn't think I needed to apologize for that. Especially on a site that goes ballistic on anyone that posts about street racing.

It seems like you've made two personal attacks on me this week. The first was giving me shit for being late. ??? And the second one seems like you were trying to take a shot at my ride. ??? I don't recall laying any claim that people drift Z32s, or that they're set up for that, or that I'm even interested in drifting. So how was your statement relevant to the discussion?

BTW, I didn't "bring up" driting, it was started by the author of this thread.

i remember DamonZ recorded some Z32TT in japan while they were racing, theres one white Z32 drift like crazy...beat the shit out of a FC at the corner.

redbaron303
There is a z32 on the mischeif video or mischeif 3000 video that is doing good drifts in a drift comp.

1mns13
If you prefer to be public than private, I don't understand. I did not take a shot at your ride. And being late should not be seen as a personal attack. When your boss tells you your late do you take it personally? I suggest that you don't. I wasn't called an idiot, but some people were, indirectly. Motorsports start at street level. We would never know who wanted to be involved in what if we didn't observe "grassroots". Drifting on the street can be an expensive activity, as well as exhilarating. There would be no Friday night drags at Bud Park if there wasn't as much street racing.

No problem. You've made some good points. I had interpreted some of your comments earlier as jabs because they seemingly came out of left field.

I'm perpetually late for EVERYTHING, and my being late that night had nothing to do with my photo ticket.

I don't intend to drift, or turn either of my cars into drifters. So telling me that you never see people drift Z32s (for example) seemed pointless.

I like the NECC. There are some good people here and the club is off to a good start. But I hope everything is not just all about "drifting". Otherwise I guess you can rename NECC to DECC or NEDC (D = Drifters), and you might lose a few people in the process.

TylerH
Drifting is a huge thing on nissan boards lately, and it's a large topic that people spout off about but a lot of people don't know what it is. I don't see how we can have a lot of drift enthusiasts here because although you see organized events in Japan and in some places in the US (California) it does start in the streets. By streets i don't mean Calgary Trail or the Whitemud where there are large amounts of traffic, I mean mountain roads and whatnot. And if you guys haven't noticed we don't have a whole lot of mountain roads 'round these parts. I dunno, maybe it's just me but drifting seems to be the 'cool' thing to do and everyone is spinning out at the end of thier turns and becomes a 'drifter'. The JDM phenomenon I guess :dunno:

1mns13
I agree drifting is a lot more popular than when I learned about in the summer of '99. And thier are a lot of people who misunderstand drifting. Calgary Trail can be fine for chokudori but not much else. Actual drifting can be done in little pockets in the city if that is your focus. My S13 has just left the road and will be reborn when I determine where it fits into my lifestyle and future plans. A lot is always a relative percentage, not just a total number. NECC includes all nissans and was not started as a drift club. Economy cars to GTs. sentra to 300ZX. and maybe Trucks in the future.

Who sez Z32 can't drift:

Nitto drift video (16 M)

Watch the relatively sedate Skyline and then check out the Z32
Hee hee, my favorite is where he loses it and signals to turn around. Loses his front clip too, @#$%@ zip ties!

Also from the 350Zforum.com site:

parking lot drift

Too much fun

Regards,

1mns13
The drifts were smooth, but seemed out of place when everbody else was grip driving. The skyline was no more sedate than the rest of the drivers other than the Z32 driver. Some Z32 drift videos would be nice. Especially if you can find a whole club of Z32 drifters. Now compare that to how many you can find of other RWD cars.

1mns13
Who's going to the autox on the 13th?

redbaron303
I think I may be going, but i'm not sure if I'll be racing or not this time???

OK,

I posted the videos in direct response to the statement about not seeing Z32's drift. If you want further proof, search! I found 6 clubs that have a Z32 member among their *assorted* RWD cars in 10 minutes of searching. Keywords Z32, drift, club, member.

Z32's are not good drift cars, true, but your original statement couldn't go unanswered. I don't pretend that there are lots of Z32 drifters out there, but there are some. There are better drift cars, so what? :dunno:

BTW, love S-13's. Drove a '89 KA24E for 4 years. My wife drives a '93 KA24DE.

Also, I find it a bit rich that the drifting Z32 looked out of place on the track with grip drivers, maybe he should be on a public street?

Look forward to continuing the discussion at the next meeting (when?!?)

Its ok Rob, its my fault. I jumped into this very early on to try to point out the utter absurdity of promoting/praising members here to drift on public streets, and Jared felt it necessary to try and shut me down with an anti-Z32 comment.

Its done and finished.

Eh, you know how well I respond to spirited discussion online :P

Heard you got new wheels?

1mns13
vorpalz, your second paragraph, is what I said. Thank you for proving my statement. You jumped to conclusions in your first and fourth. I am not anti-Z32. That would like saying jason is anti-s13, there is no basis. I look forward to a discussion if you can keep your opinions and use the facts as I have chosen.

Vorpalz: Hopefully we can arrange another meet in 2 weeks or so

vorpalz
2 weeks, let me know. The Kelsey's location is close to home. Congrats to Aaron for his win at V8less Nights. Good to race with Chris K. at the Corvette Club Autocross. See you all then.

:D

1mns13
nice wheels. SSR is always a good choice. The spokes remind of Aaron's wheels.

SRBURG13
Those are the SSR GT1's that are the same as mine, he has GT2's. I think. Too lazy to look it up on the internet.

captain nismo
 I love those SSR wheels. Are they 17''s? They look really good Inzane!!

Inzane
Thanks guys. They are the SSR GT3's. 18"x8.5" front, 18"x10" rear.
They're a 3-piece rim.

The GT1's have a similar spoke design, but are 1-piece and hence no dish, but still nice too. But they are not available in as wide sizes as the GT3.

vorpalz
Hah! I knew it! Lookin' good!

Nice brake paint too, whatja use?

Hey I love the make shift ramp you got there in the first picture!

I got some ghetto ramps too.
