Ok, guys, here I go...
The project to get my '93 N/A to the year 2017 as stock as can be is under way. I thought it'd be a good idea to keep track of the journey, so here it is:

Project Vintage MR2 - http://projectvintagemr2.blogspot.com
Check it out, poke fun, have a laugh, and seriously wonder how many MR2's will be on the road in 2017. Just think about how many 1983 Celicas or Supra's are out there now - not many, and few of them are in good shape, either.
In my opinion, we need to think a bit like the 'Vette crowd. Lots of '70's models still tooling around, and many of them still look great. Why? 'Cause they take care of them, love them, and keep them just the way they are. Also, they're almost never driven in the winter.
Easier said than done? I don't know...we'll see. :) |

Why 2017? That's the year it'll be 25 years old technically - although, officially, it's a '93 model so 2018 would be more accurate. That's when it'll qualify as a vintage vehicle, and then I may look into getting collector's plates for it. My understanding is that to get collector's plates, a car needs to be a stock model, at least on the outside, I think. Under the hood might be a different story...
Now, as for the jerk who has the '94 turbo in storage for his son, man! I'm still going to drive my car each spring/summer/fall and enjoy it.
That's one lucky kid...and one great dad. |
