I am prepping my car for winter and other than my BISS screw (dsm guys will know what im talking about lol) the only thing left is to fix some inner fender rust/corosion issues. I have some rust bubbles formed on the fender lip where rock chips have taken off the paint and it will only get worse over winter. It is nothing major, and would be a cheap/easy fix if i chose to take it to get professionally rust-proof and repainted. but if i went this route then rock chips would have it in the same condition in 2-3 years.

What I have decided to do is sand to clean metal, buff, rust-proof and prime the rear fender lips then instal rubber fender lip trim using 3M weatherstrip tape.

What is this rubber fender lip trim you ask? It is a rubber trim peice ~2mm thick, which folds over itself to wrap around the fender lip on both sides. Many import cars have it from factory I believe as i have seen it on many honda/subaru/toyota applications.

I do not know where to buy this lip trim... would any automotive store (NAPA, Autozone ect.) carry it? For my application i need it ~1 1/8" wide and made of a fairly rough, durable rubber as i do drive on gravel roads every now and again.

Would you recommend this tape or is there another tape/method of attaching this trip to my fender lip which is better? http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/...o/Weatherstrip/ Originally i thought of using an epoxy but this seems like a much cleaner method and I have no risk of discoloring my paint from spilt/dripping chemicals.

Canadian tire sells 3m tape like they put on the front of cars its not very thick though. Theres also a place called car pretty 780.429.2277 they might have it.

thanks, but this is a double sided tape that im thinking of designed for wind deflectors, window shades (fender trim?) ect. not the stuff that protects your paint. I will check out car pretty though sounds like a place that would carry this kind of stuff.
