JDM Import - Click HERE for Original Thread

Once a car is in one's possession over here, where would one go to get it repaired, fixed or tuned up? I am wondering what people do. For example, if I were to import a Daihatsu, where would I go? This is my question when it comes to importing a vehicle. I hope you guys can help me out.

Most shops should be able to do repairs, it's just parts that would be the main issue. Your best bet is to find compatible vehicles over here and start researching what parts are interchangeable.

Hmm. Sounds like a good start. Thanks for the info, keep it coming!

on the subject of jdm cars i was wondering, if someone in the US imports an evo 3, can you then buy it from him and import it to canada? the RIV doesnt say anything about importing an evo that old from the US, they just say from 2002 to newer is banned

I am looking for some type of car that is really good on fuel. That is why I am considering Daihatsu. I'm trying to figure out if a kei car is the way to go, or stick with something from this continent with a 1.0L I3 cylinder engine.

Mustard
the only I3 i know of this side of the ocean is my previous love, the Swift/Firefly/Sprint/Metro. And i can vouch for the quality, if it's maintained, of course.

Regardless,
i saw an article in the Edmonton Journal not to long ago that had a link to a kei-car importer... he had some really cool stuff, and some damn funny descriptions.

I'll see if i can dig it up.

Edit: Update.
Found him:
JAPANOID.COM
...and he has a thing in the FAQ about repairs and parts.
Anything you couldn't fix yourself he has a guy for.... but it's in BC :(
Sweet list of cars though. read the discriptions for a laugh.

It is a good site, & good to know that there is someone only a province over that can do repairs if I wasn't able to find someone over here.
