im looking for the technical/correct name for this trim peice as none of the automotive shops know wtf I am talking about when i ask for it...

I need that stip that is hanging down off the fender, it is made of rubber and goes on both sides of the fender lip and is approx. 1.25" wide and just covers the fender lip; lots of honda's and newer subarus have this peice.
Fender edge trim? lip trim? |

Don't put one on, remove it.
Wheel well trim, of the rubber variety, is what I would call it. |

really i dont want one? I had a couple rust bubbles forming on my RR fender lip so I figured i would sand them down (they would come off really easily) rust coat the lip, 3m tape it on then a layer of undercoating on the top side to prevent moisture... It only has to last till spring because i have to roll my fenders so i dont wreak another tire.
Would it be better to just use rust remover then a thinner undercoating on the lip to prevent any more rust over winter? i really dont want the lip to rust out over winter so i can't roll it in the spring. |

Well the main reason for your rust, is that you are getting a bunch of gunk stuck in between the trim and the fender.
Without the trim being their it wont stick to your fender. So I would personally just fix the rust bubbles and have it painted, and then leave it at that.
Or just roll the fenders now and repair the rust and leave it at that. |
