Looking for a new (used) car... - Click HERE for Original Thread

All right, right now I've got a 1991 Mercury Cougar LS 5.0L HO V8 in it. Looking to sell and get something with a 5 speed, decent performance, better gas mileage... somewhat 'younger' and definitely something 'cooler' lol. Looking somewhere in teh neighborhood of 4-7 grand. 8 if it's one HELL of a car... I just don't have that kind of cash...

First things first, looking preferably a V6... insurance costs are a consideration as well... no plans to 'rice' anything, would love to go domestic, but not closed minded to imports. Thinking about the Ford Taurus SHO 1989-1993 ish...

Any other suggestions?

What type of vehicle are you looking for????

You could go mercury cougar (new style) in 5 spd... but I think they're a lil higher than your price range states...

LOL.

Thunderbird SC. Should give ya good mileage, and is pretty much neck and neck (I think) with an SHO. And if I remember right it ONLY comes in a 5 speed.

I was under the impression sc meant super coupe... oh well. Still good though.

Lower mid class domestics eg: Cavaliers, sunfires, focus are crap.. I really discourage you from buying one, cause I have seen and experienced many problems with them... If you dont wanna spend lots of money better getting a lower mid class import.. more car for your $$$$.. Though SHO's are an exception.. I would still recommend an import... For your price range, maybe a mid 90's 240SX or a GSR.. both look good and you dont need to mod them out seeing how they are already fast

Or buy a 95 civic CX for 4500, and spend 3000 on a H22 engine swap

I 2nd that... better to stay away from domestic Sunfires / Cavaliers. Take a look on NHTSA and you'll find they're full of recalls and quality control issues. Try to buy a newer import if you can. B)

High 15 - Low 16 second cars are fast?

Who is doing H22 swaps for $3000 CAD?

high 15 to low 16's on a stock lower middle class car is fast... My RSX is high 14's and I'd say its a high middle class car.. Just my opinion
