ADDS SUCK!

Hey everyone.
So, I really wasn't planning on doing a swap anytime soon but, due to a noob mistake on my part I have to now. SO I've been looking at my options and I'm confused about what way I should go. Money IS a problem for me, but I'd like to try something different so If I have to save up a little bit, then I'll do it.. but I don't have a ton of cash or I wouldn't be posting, I'd just got buy a B18C and be done..

Engines I've found:
B18A - $200
B16A - $500
B17A - $1400 for complete swap. price goes down depending what i want to take.

So, there's the B18A.. Normal Stock Cheap.. but no fun really.. but it is the most affordable to get my car back on the road.

EVERYONE I've talked to said NO to the B16A because its under powered for my Integra. BUT, a friend of mine wants the bottom end from b16A and he'd be willing to buy it with me, take the bottom and I keep the top. Might Be a fun LS/VTEC project? however I would have to buy an LS/VTEC kit from Golden Eagle for around $150 give or take, plus i'm not sure what I would have to do with the ECU. I was told I can run a GS-R map.. or I could spend more money on a Hondata ECU.. but i think this entire project would have my car parked till the spring.. not really the best idea i guess but its still out there..

And finally, the B17 is another choice, but reading online it seems to just be a B16 with an extra .1 AND id have to go pull it out of the car its in.. AND it costs the most.. Also I'm not sure if my stock transmission would work for ALL of this because its not made for VTEC.. so would I be slipping out of VTEC all the time? could that be solved with a VTEC controller and dropping the RPM for when it engages down?

*FEWF* well I know thats a TON of questions but I hope someone out there would have the answer..

Cheers!

does your car have a vtec swap already?, if not then u are lookin at a complete obd1 conversion, such as what i am planning(turbo'd b18 with a hondata).

i'd go with a b20 Ls/Vtec build, then turbo that monkey and be done with it, lol.

Ok you coulda just asked me but anyone to answer your questions.

LS / Vtec isnt just a matter of a conversion kit and you are done, WAY more to it then that but ill leave that for another day.

You CAN just run a GSR map but its gonna run like shit, I used that as a base and it was way off fueling wise... and if you look around everyone will say no honda map will run it well... so youd need wideband + chip burner etc.. + time to tune etc... long run is ls/vtec is not cheap as it seems if you are incapable of doing the labour etc.. involved.

Yes a b17a Is identical to a b16a in every way shape and form the difference is .1 as you said but its basically closer to an lsvtec then anything else honda makes as its a B16 head with a stroked b16 bottom end hence producing that extra .1 whereas a b18 is a REALLLLY stroked b16 bottom end.

As far as your tranny? Do not use it, its WAY to long for any vtec engine, and "dropping down vtec" isnt going to help at all because you will lose a shitload of power by having the crossover in the wrong position therefore defeating the original intent of not droppoing out of vtec.

Thanks for your post Cody. I'm starting to think just parking it and working on it for a while is in my best interest..:dunno:
