Anyone order through Tire Rack.com before? - Click HERE for Original Thread

GOT BOOST
Surfing the net looking for new tires for my Supra. My rear tires seem to have alot more wear on them than the front ones for some odd reason. ;)

Looking at the pricing on tirerack seems to be outstanding value. Anyone have any experience with them? Good or Bad?

Post up.

They ship UPS so be prepared to get butt fucked no lube bleeding asshole style at the border. 1010tires is in Canada.........

I usually pay about $150 in duty to UPS at the border on 4 tires. Add that to the tirerack price and see how it looks.

Still paying Between $60.00 to $95.00 USD per tire. Converted to Canadian assuming $1 CDN = to $0.98 USD. The price is still alot less than purchasing locally. Even once I factor in shipping from Reno Nevada @ $99.38 (according to the online shipping quote) I am still way further ahead.

I have no issue being shipped though UPS even if it means having to pay a bit more for the brokerage and I still end up saving hundreds of dollars.

I knew a few people that order from Tire Rack & they said that they got a good deal.
You still have to pay someone to install & balanced them. You would be looking at, between $50 -$100 to have that done.
Good Luck, maybe you could go to Mayfield Toyota & have them install.

on a single wed sport SA-90 wheel that i bought, i payed $235, had i bought a full set, id be looking at under $800 for them. thats with all the brokerage fees and such included so they dont collect it when it arrives. they probably have it that way so tire rack isnt on the hook for everything when the customer doesnt want to pay. when you look at the sihpping quote, it includes all the brokerage fees and such so you know exactly how much you will be spending.

MrHeavyFoot
Tirerack has a deal worked out with UPS for shipments to Canada now, so all brokerage fees and what not are included in the shipping price that you see on tirerack.com. The shipping price quoted when you order is higher now, but it includes everything.

I haven't ordered directly from them myself, but I've heard it works out much cheaper than before.

I'd recommend http://tiretrends.ca

In Canada (BC to be specific), good pricing and shipping is fast, only bought tires from them once, but it was a good experience and I'd buy from them again.

Well if they don't own you at the border that isn't too bad. I want to get some cheap tires for my road trip, 550 bucks for some tires isn't too bad at all!

Go talk to Mike and Glenn over at Matrix. They've given me some smoking deals on tires this past year.

I work for UPS... and there is no fee collected in person... You pay brokerage, duty and stuff when you pay tire rack. However they changed it so there is no signature required so a driver could leave 4 tires right at your front door, so people could steal it easily.

This might be just a special deal for Tire Rack though.... Not sure on that one.

Avoid UPS at all costs. They will Fuck you, regardless of prior arrangements. I hope someone plants a bomb in each of their buildings. cocksuckers.

SpeedwayRacing
Agreed. The only reason anyone would ship using UPS is because they are to lazy to take the package down to send it away. USPS FTW. Or buy them from a local shop here, in the end they can likley do it for nearly the same price. If you have any problems they will be easy to sort out.

Its been like that for like 2 months now... UPS gets like 50 sets of tires from tire rack and ive delivered plenty of sets without COD's. If you got charged, you can most likely fight for it cause on the tire rack site, it explicitly says "UPS will NOT collect any additional fees at your door on delivery". Although I agree UPS is being gay with their fees, theres nothing really you can do. A lot of american companies use UPS cause its good to ship domestic but once its international theres most likely always a fee.

BTW, I ordered tires from tire rack myself 2 weeks ago and I never got a fee as well.

If UPS doesnt reimburse you for your recent COD charge, then you can most likely get it back from tire rack cause on their site, it says they dont collect. This is only relevent to tire rack purchases, not any other companies....

gtaylor
bought my winters this year from tirerack.
took about 5 days to get here i think, but seemed fast enough.

id reccomend them for sure

newaccorddriver
as long as you know the fee's up front, then you know the total cost in the end since most shippers dont account for all the UPS fee's, so your stuck paying a mystery amount. i dont mind ordering from tire rack for that very reason.

x2.
got my winter tires from them last year. great service, the price was the cheapest i could find, and they arrived within a few days.

also, they are based out of vancouver, so no duty. shipping was like 10$ a tire i think.

Lococoin
Nice! I didnt know they changed the rules on brokerage for tirerack.

This is from their website

I just checked out their site.

Tiretrends: 820.23 for 4 x 255/40/17 Fuzion ZRi
Tirerack: 567.59 for 4 x 255/40/17 Fuzion ZRi

That's a savings of almost 65 bucks per tire..........

daytonagord
my employer orders all his own tires through them.

all I can say is he has neve once complained about service or the product,

if i were to compare a set of tires for my skyline, this is how it would go for a set of Avon M500's

tiretrends

2x 215/45/17 @ 272.90
2x 245/45/17 @ 291.90

total 598.69CAD with GST

those prices are shipped to your door

tirerack

2x 215/45/17 @ 184
2x 245/45/17 @ 224

now, there seems to be a huge price difference, but lets see what else we need to add on.

shipping @ 102.05
brokerage @ 20.00
provincial tire fee @ 16.00
GST @ 26.64

total is 572.69USD altogether shipped to your door.

add on whatever the current exchange rate is and you still save from ordering from tirerack, but its not as significant anymore. im all for saving money on certain things, but since its not so different in pricing considering they both have to be shipped as well, i would much rather support the canadian economy.

the pricing really depends on what brand/size of tires you need since they can vary quite a bit in pricing. the really expensive tires tend to be much cheaper from tire rack, but the lower priced ones are usually closely priced from tiretrends. i dont plan on spending $200+ per tire, so i found the avons had a pretty good review against the potenzas and such from tirerack. if i were to spend 1k on a set of potenzas for my car, i would definitely go through tirerack, but im not, and since the difference is so little ill go through tiretrends instead

jzz30tt
Tirerack is awesome, i get all of my tires from them if high end. Huge savings and you get all fees up front. No charges at delivery or after.

They can't beat some deals on lower end tires since there won't be as much markup to play with but they'll usually kill anyone else on a higher end tire.

I've bought two full sets of winter tires, 1 set of rims, 1.5 sets of summer tires off them and each time was MUCH cheaper than anyone else 1010tires and tiretrends included even after all charges and mounting and balancing.

chico_kj_23
i just got my weds through tire rack. got a great deal on them to. but you will have to pay the cod for the brokerage fees. not a big deal cause i still payed less then what i could have got them here for. i would deal with tire rack again.
