Hey guys, hows it goin? K I need help on this one. I have an 87 RX7 Turbo II and i just had the oil changed today and i was there watching them do it and i drove away and the car felt fine boosted okay and then i turned a corner and the boost would only hit 5psi and then would just bog down like something was holding it back. I normally can hit 9 or 10 psi with no problems but this is freakin me out! Now when i boost i can really really really hear the turbo spooling-up compared to when before when it was running fine. I don't know if its just not getting enough fuel or if it has a big vacuum leak or what. Any one have any possilities? Maybe something to do with my wastegate? i dunno! :( :dunno:

Sounds like a boost leak.

Would that really cause your engine to stumble tho?

If it is a large enugh boost leak it can. The MAF "counts" the air before it enters the inlet on the compressor housing of the turbo. If that air escapes to atmosphere before it gets to the intake manifold the car will run rich. How rich depends on the amount of "counted" air that has escaped. The car might very well stumble if it is running extremely rich due to the boost leak.

if it ran so rich, wouldnt the exhaust backfire>?

His car already shoots flames because of the lack of catilyticness. hehe

Like they said, sounds like a boost leak, who knows how changing the oil would cause this......but you should be changing your oil yourself dude! I don't trust that shit to anyone!

I don't think the oil change had anything to do with it, just a coincidence, unless the LUBEY pulled a line or hose off just to spread the misery that is his life.

Well they do check fluid levels and filters.... they could have nocked a hose off or cracked it while trying to get into the airbox? *Shrug*

like i said Chad, you bag the f@ck outta that car, and look what happens,. dont say i didnt warn you! :thefinger:

andy!

Well first of all, i didn't change my own oil cause its freakin hard to get the oil filter off cause its in a really weird and hard place to get at. second i watched them like watched them do everything and they did everything ok. third, ANDY, i don't bag the f@ck outta my car, what do you expect from an 87 car? hoses do tend to get old and break. fourth, yes the car does shoot flames but that is typical from the exhaust i have on there. I am gonna try and check all the hoses tomorrow.

Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black......

redbaron303
yes... yes you bag it... you may not consider how you drive baggin it....

IT does seem like a vaccuum leak somewhere??? That's how my car idled when I had my vaccuum leak.... probably a hose in a nodd place that you wouldn't think about like mine was... oh well :(

Goodluck, don't blow it up too bad.
