racing seats - Click HERE for Original Thread

adrian64
hey, wheres the best place to get racing seats in edmonton? Im looking at spending around 250 a seat. one of my buddy's has tenzo seats and they look nice. thanks for the help

Thegnome
... 250 a seat? Where do you plan on shopping...

Can you even get seats for that cheap that aren't ebay knock offs?

adrian64
really? they cost more than that? hmm ok well lets go 350 a seat then

NYGACR
I got my seat direct from Corbeau. Its very well priced considering the quality. Shipping/duty were around $70 for the seat and harness.

www.corbeau.com

Thegnome
What seat did you get from them?

bboybean
Does anyone use a fixed seat? I like the look of a couple but not sure how it would feel on a daily driver.

If you want a decent comfortable seat, you're probably looking at 600+ per seat.

NYGACR
I've got an FX1 pro (fixed back) in my race car. Its pretty tight for the street but perfect for what I want.

BigTrucker
$350 will get you an APC seat from crappy tire

As said before, be ready to shell out at least $600 for a decent seat

Oh ya, try Garage Works or SpeedTech, they both stock seats I believe.

Prudz_lude
b18b.eg is selling a set of apc seats for 200. Sat in them, they are actually comfy.

ChromeDragon
First off, what do you plan on using these seats for? My full aluminum racing bucket was ~$600 and is perfect for track use and even comfortable enough to roll around in for hours on the street.

adrian64
I just want some decent seats that i can put harnesses in. my friend has apc seats and i didnt like them. might have to hunt around for some deals. thanks for the help

ChromeDragon
Using harnesses in a car that does not have a roll cage can be extremely dangerous in the event of a rollover. Where a normal seatbelt will allow your body to shift towards the centre of the vehicle, a harness will not. Hence the collapsing roof could come down on the top of your head, snapping your neck.

anschutz_93
I have a momo something or other (previous owner installed) its a fixed seat and runs ~$450 i beleive (dont quote me). It definately wouldn't fit anyone over 160 pounds comfortably as it is quiet snug around my back, but it is nicer than the stock seats and offer much more support so you are not sliding around. I have done a couple 2 hour hiway drives and after that i dont want to sit in it anymore, but on my 30minute comute to work it is fine.
If you are a true baller, go for some of the momo two peice, they are overpriced imo but they are really really comfortable.
Whatever you do, dont be one of those trendy jdm retards who buys a seat for the passenger, not only is it a waste of money but who the hell wants to sit in that thing unless they are driving.

adrian64
lol good point.

Cheverz
Now you have me worried i guess i better install that roll cage in the garage alot quicker eh >.<

With a proper racing seat a normal seatbelt should hold you in just fine through the corners.

I have never used a harness with my seat because I don't have a cage, but it has no problem keeping me in place for the corners. The harness is there to keep you in the seat in the case of a crash, not for corners. They may provide a bit of support in braking, but that should really be it.

The seat in my car.

Sparco Sprint 5 FTW!!!!

I am looking at something like that... I don't want a fixed back seat, as I regularily make 5hr trips with my car, so I want to be as comfortable as possible in it.

adrian64
we should just do a group buy...lol

Neo-Blue99GASE
I bought some Tenzo R's from a guy on this site, I think I paid 400 or maybe 500 for the two of them. As for a harness, unless you have a roll cage or a bar that runs behind the seats, I wouldnt recommend it ( I cant remember what the bar is called, but its bolted to your frame and runs horizontal across the back of your seats and is designed to be used for a harness)

I agree, its nice to have a racing seat with a bit more support, but I still would want something with adjustability.

I suppose it just depends on what you want, if its a all out track car, a non-adjustable seat would be fine.

were did you get yours?

Rich_A
Sparco Roadster's. Best fixed back seat that is still streetable. I have roadster II's which are beautiful but were only a limited run as far as I know. They don't weigh a thing either. I can spin one of them around with one hand like a cane lol.

ChromeDragon
Like I said before, my fixed-back seat is very comfortable. Find a seat that is comfortable for you. I don't know about you guys, but I don't go adjusting my seat constantly as I'm driving. It's in one position and it pretty much always stays there. I've driven from Calgary to Edmonton in my Kirkey seat on extremely stiff suspension in my Corolla and the seat was just fine.

Hahaha, that's why I can't fit in an S2K. Stupid midget-mobiles.

adrian64
actually the whole reason that i wanted to get racing seats was to track my car, also getting that bar that goes horizontal behind the seats(going to try my hand at fabricating one) I'd like to know where i can get a set of tenzos..

Can't Stop Spin
the whole reason I want a seat that's adjustable, is the wife sometimes drives my car. And well, she's only 4'11", so needless to say, she ends up adjusting everything in the car just so she can drive.

why not? :dunno: I turn the boost down on pump gas. And from what I've seen, she drives it fairly nice. She finds it too loud/scary when the dump opens, so I know she wont be taking it above 10lbs of boost

If letting her drive it a couple times a month makes her happy enough to let me keep spending money on it, I'm all for letting her drive

b_w.
i really like the look of the corbeau seats:)

BRITAIN1.8
Ultra-Seats are the best bang for the buck! I bought some of thier. faux leather racing seats... 350e a seat.. amazingly comfy though! I'd recommend ultra-seats for sure

BRITAIN1.8

OEM Carbon-Kevlar seats aren't cheap... :p

It's actually a steal. If you go to Honda with the part number, they're about $9500 A PIECE!!!!

ChromeDragon
Those better give you a mid-race handjob for that price.

Ravendarat
Does anyone make a race style seat that is , how you say, fat people friendly ;)

Can't Stop Spin
http://www.corbeau.com/products/vx2000/vx2000.shtml

it'll fit up to a 44" waist. They have a couple other seats that are good for a 42-44" waist. Beyond that, I dunno, but I'm sure you could squeeze into them if you're still bigger then that

Scourge
The picture that BRITAIN1.8 posted looks a lot like the Recaro knock-offs by Yonaka Motorsports (based in Canada). The only experience I have with their company is with their Stage 2 axles. They make lots of other stuff too like radiators, turbo piping, coilovers, and lots more.

I think Street Imports is one of their distributors (also located in Canada) and are selling a PAIR for $300 if you're willing to accept fake leather or cloth.
http://www.streetimports.com/products.asp?catid=99

Also, they sell on eBay for $229 + $40 shipping. When I bought axles from them, I didn't owe FedEx a thing.
