Im looking for the name of this particular part, circled in red.
Its for a 2.0L VW Engine.

I think its either an idler or tension pulley

It broke on my Gf's Jetta tonight, and I need to get it fixed ASAP for her.

why dont you take the pic to the VW parts guy and buy the part from them?

sparkycivic
spring-loaded = tensioner
fixed = idler

Got the answer from VWVortex last night.
Got a reply within 10 seconds of posting.

I got the part out now, after the car was towed to my house. Looks like the bearing seized and seperated.

that under hood pic reminds me of that $560 alternator i had to put in my old golf........$$ bastards $$

Where in gods name did you buy a 560 dollar alternator. The most expensive I've seen an alternator for any of the variations of the engine that came in the golf is about 240.00

Roller according to the guy behind the parts counter, I also took in what was left of the stock one.

Looks like the bearings took a shit.
