Just wondering if any of you guys have been seriously sick and have any stories about it. I have been diagnosed with Shingles...it fucking sucks and can be quite serious if I run into complications.

I feel like shit and never felt this much pain ever...

red measles FTW!

Also some other stuff that I can not remember the name of. :D

Had Cancer (non-hodgkins lymphoma), and because of the chemotherapy I got pneumonia and lung infections basically three times a year afterwards.

Oh and I had a wicked 24 hour flu once that I had to be hospitalized for, haha. I was so dehydrated from throwing up every 10 minutes, they had to fill me with 4 containers of saline to keep moisture because I couldn't drink without throwing up.

Invalid Zero
Hernia surgery is about the worse I've had to deal with. Not really an illness though.

AudiInProgress
Food poisoning.

Peter's Drive-In leaving Calgary heading back here to E-Town.

Just as I reached Nisku I had to pull my truck into the ditch and barf my face off... I've never seen such a thick wide puddle of vomit in my life. I swear, had I been barfing into a container, it would have filled a 4L icecream container...

Got back in the truck, continued driving home, had to pull over again 20 minutes later and vomit some more.

I got home, and couldn't stop puking, and then came the shits...

At one point, I was laying in the bottom of the bathtub with the shower pouring down on me, just vomiting bright yellow acid and shitting all over myself and crying.

It's a horrible mental image, and now that I think about it, I'm sure that somebody is going to quote that in their sig :(

But anyways, I ended up in the hospital with an IV drip of saline from being so dehydrated, and it was the worst experience of my life...

Nothing like the flu or puking from drinking too much... No happy feeling after you vomit, glad that it's over, because it's never over.

crazy240sx
sorry audiinprogress but that story made me laugh my guts out, the very first time i drank i was in the same situation

sitting on my buddies toilet shitting and barfing into the garbage pale, lol, not fun

i've only had 3 hernias and my heart used to stop when i was born

Oh btw, that yellow stuff was bile.

RacerGirl
for the first few months of pregnancy I was in the hospital because I was so sick I could not keep anything down; was sick all day, every day; throwing up blood. I couldn't move some days at all, and usually within a day or two of being discharged I was right back in. I lost about 15 pounds in 2 months. it sucked.

EK9Hatch
Yea, this crap I'm going through is bullshit. Anyone remember how shitty and horrible the chickenpox was? Well Shingles is "round 2" of the chickenpox (its the same virus)

It feels like 248249 jellyfish and stringrays are stinging the fuck out of neck...the pain is unreal. I can't sleep, eat...nothing.

Jamie

littledan
good luck man. just try to stay positive and make the best out ofyour situation even though its shitty.

Exactly. In the past two days, the only time I've left my bed is to take a leak or grab something to drink.

Jamie

I had about 10 minutes left to live. See I had my appendix taken out and then a week later an infection started inside me. My insides were full of puss and 10min longer and it would of reached my heart and would of killed me. I spent 2.5 months in hospital with 2 tubes sticking out of me draining the puss away. They also cut me open from my belly button all the way to my pelvic region, around 5" and left it open to close itself up. So basically I was laying in the hospital bed with my guts hanging out and shit draining out of me. I was 12 years old at the time. Top that.

I had food poisoning from Burger King once.

I started puking, and didn't stop for a long time, it lasted 2 days.

The first night I honestly thought I was going to die because of the pain I was in. I stayed in bed, and puked out what seemed to be nothing at all, just spit.

I couldn't eat anything for the next two days as I would puke anything that came near me.

Honestly I thought I was on my death bed...

Dave P
I had some serious liver problems 2 years ago. Looked Jondis (sp??) and was puking a lot of blood for a while.

Not fun

dc2696
When I was on the rigs I caught something on my last shift, drove home, went to sleep and stayed in bed for my entire week off just puking sweating and freezing. Last day off I drove back to start nights, halfway thru my shift I felt alot better. Being sick and having to work is the worst.

shortie
I have a fucked gallbladder, and had a whole week of an attack once (which the doctors figured they would just cure by diet change... sigh... doctors.. dont get me started) - basically feels like a dull, jagged blade is piercing through your rib cage and being turned slowly - comes in convulsions every few minutes, while puking my guts up and being in so much pain that nothing but curling into a ball slightly helps. I was working three jobs at the time, and somehow employers really had no pity despite the fact I couldn't actually walk unless bent over or talk and had tears in my eyes - how sweet.

other than that, I haven't been really sick.

(although my dad has/had lymphoma as well -- so I know where you come from)

no... it's cool. i shared my story for a reason!

flatboy
I had shingles a couple years ago that almost went all the way around my mid section - very bad indeed.

and in the last 2 months I've missed prenty of work.
Iritated bowle syndrome
Ulcerative colitus
Boarder line celiacs diease

spent what seemed like a life time in the hospital, waiting for test results and shit done to me that I wont even mention, but on a bright note, accupuncture has given me some hope and eased alot of the discomfort.

yuck, being sick sucks.

Careful Ryan, if I have to go out and spend $300 on a suit to attend your funeral because "Karma" puts a bullet in you first day overseas... I'll be pissed.

$300 wouldn't cover the fabric costs for a suit for you. let alone custom tailoring.

Well then, I guess Ryan had better just smarten up!

I got hit in the face while working. my braces cut my cheek open and it healed up before i coudl rinse it really good with salt water. all was fine for a week then all of a sudden my face hurt was turning yellow and started to swell again i went to bed on a Monday night wake up at 2:30 am felt like my face was going to explode and it damn near looked like it entire left side of me looked like i was coved in yellow highlighter.

went to the doc and i guess i had a abscesses and the infection was attacking my optic nerve my sinuses pretty much everything and i had to have emergency surgery so i wouldn't go blind in one eye . that sucked alot

jzz30tt
ummm... lol stabbed myself in the leg by accident once...crazy glued it shut again. Guess i can't compete.

dsm112

lovinthespeed

I don't have any itching, just the stinging pains. And my neck feels like someone exploded a baseball bat over it. :( Fack...and just missing work makes it so much worse.

Jamie

Supra_devil
not all an illness as such

born with a platlet deficiency, so i had transfusions for that when i was a couple weeks old. if someone held me too tight i would start bleeding. spent the first couple months in hospital.

had a hernia when i was a couple months old, had surgery at 6 months

Bad case of tonselitis (sp?) when i was younger, temp was high enough we went to the hospital and got rushed in to be looked at, came out of it fine in the end.

more recently i've torn my rotators in my shoulders pretty good a few times, last time was bad enough i almost needed surgery.

toxic and galvanized paint fumes made me sick once, hot/cold flashes for a couple days, felt like i was going to puke my guts out, no strength. And then being down from that i got sick pretty bad and that lasted with me for a couple months, i could barely talk my throat was so swollen.

sparkycivic
I never knew the name of it, but I got some seriously sick 2 years ago, could not sleep, tired, cold flashes/hot flashes/sweats, no apetite, my liver shut down for a week so I was Jaundiced w/ yellow eyes and skin... that was the LOOONGEST 3 weeks of my life. at the low point, I hadn't slept more than 3 hours in a whole week, and i just went batty with halucinations and basically broke down. people were bringing me food because I couldn't go out to get it on my own I was so weak.
after it was all over, my right shoulder muscles that lift sideways were weakened so I had to drive with my left arm for many weeks.
Even my doc was stumped. Bloodwork showed nothing. best answer i ever came-up with was that I bought a new frying-pan from Ikea, and didn't wash if first before I used it. I have no way of confirming that, though.

Fazda
lol first of rob, thats hilarious, i can't beleive u would actually tell us that shit. lol too funny

as for being really sick i had mono, couldn't eat or drink for about a 10 days, dropped down to 102 pounds, lol im usually about 140.. had to go to the hospital for a few days with ivy and shit,, couldn't even walk. not fun at all..

many broken bones as well, thats about it though,

jojodeci
i sharted a few times

EK9Hatch
Thank God I'm starting to feel better. I did good considering some have this for more than a month. Tomorrow will be 1 week with me.

Jamie

Wookey
When i was younger i had E.Coli. I was hospitalized for over a week. Almost didn't make it due to other problems That followed.

I had face my burnt off and was lucky i didn't go blind due to a coolant resavoir blowing up in my face with boil anti-freeze. That was fun. 5 shots of morphine later and a night in the hospital i was good to go:thumbup:
