I don't know if they decided to start screwing everybody over the last year or so but it's getting retarded.
Everytime I get a package shipped to my house, (my wife is a ebay-aholic) instead of delivering the package, they just put a 'Not at Home' tag on my door. My wife stays at home with my kid all day and she says they dont even knock.
Everytime I call to complain and tell them to actually deliver the package I get the same story about how the driver deligently tried to contact us and blah blah. I think its just a scam so Canada Post doesn't have to do actual work and they make you go pick up the package.
It hasn't been just this Christmas season but throughout the whole previous year at both my new house in Spuce Grove and my old townhouse in Edmonton.
I'm just getting pissed off always having to go pick up my package when I paid to have it delivered to my door. UPS and FedEx don't seem to have a problem doing it, so why does Canada Post? |

Yah! That happened to me too. I figured I accidently took acid or something and missed them coming, cause I made sure I was home all day so I could get my stupid package. Then at 5 I was like WTF?, went outside and saw their stupid tag on my door.
There is no way he bothered actually knocking, he was just too lazy to carry my package out of his truck |

Funny, anytime I have asked them why they dont deliver they are quite honest and I get this answer. They do not actually carry the packages around with them. The notices are actually left there by your mail carrier(which then point to when you can pick up your package which isnt usually even at the depot yet). If you have one of those big multi mail boxes they usually put it in there(with your mail), and if not on your door. That is what I was told. I dont work for the post office, but you really cant expect the mail carriers to carry around everyone's packages by foot. Can you??? because lots of mail carriers dont get truck, and even still are not like ups and fed ex which are setup for exactly that bringing your package to you.

i caught them redhanded. My two front windows have limo tint lol no joke its awesome i can creep on people. Anyway, they showed up with a package. I waited for the knock. didn't happen. I looked outside to see the guy halfway back to his truck. So i ran out after him and said
"WTF! why the hell did you not knock?"
His response "Ohh, someones home. I did knock you must have not heard me."
My response "Are you kidding? I was right next to the fucking door. Don't lie to my face"
then an angry exchange happened. Its retarded, i agree. The guy just slapped the sticker on my door without trying. Its probably becasue almost everyone is at work and they are sick of standing in the cold waiting for someone to open the door that is not home. Either way fuck them, thats their job. |

| Do their job for a few days, see how it goes. At some point the influx of stuff you have to deliver is going to lead to you finding shortcuts to get everything delivered and notified at the least. Ive gotten the door tag thing aswell before and it sucks, but Ive also had them come to my door, with 2 huge dogs barking at them, and they still waited patiently for me to put them away and then come and chat. And I always thank them for the patience. |

That's their problem not mine. I paid for them to bring the package to my house. If it's too much work for them, then Canada Post needs to find another solution to fulfill their commitment.
And do their job? It's not a hard one to do, take package from wherever they keep it, walk it to my house, ring bell, wait until I open the door, give me the package, bye.
Where I live now they do have one of those large multi-mailboxes and some of the smaller packages they do leave in the lower bins but the majority of my stuff requires a signature so they can't leave it there. They have been getting lazier, they just leave the not at home tag in my mailbox down the block instead of driving to my house and hanging it on the doorknob. |

At least they notified you.
Purolator decided to not even let me know a package has come in from Japan, and decided to send it back to the sender...
I called and complained, and the lady told me that they do that sometimes and it is stupid... |

It doesnt just seem that way it doesnt lol. Much like I said in my above post. That's exactly the point they dont have the packages with them(unless they are the size that can fit multi mailboxes then they do carry it). Nor did anyone pay to have it delivered to their door. They paid to have it delivered under canada posts delivery agreement. Which I think if some of you actually look into instead of bitching will find they are doing their jobs. Just because you think the package is supposed to come to your door, doesnt make it so. Im sorry if that were true Id wish i'd wish I had 5 million dollars and be out of this city. Either way I just love smart guys who love to bitch then bitch at the wrong branch of the system when it isnt working for them. I guess being uneducated on matters and ignorant really is bliss(much like bigtrucker's reply to my post which only leads on to believe he read the last sentence only)

If you pay for the package to be delivered to your house, then the package should be delivered to your house. Mail carriers should have nothing to do with parcels. Mail trucks exist for this reason. It is just laziness.
I never had this problem in Edmonton, though. I actually had a package sit on our back-door step for two weeks, because they took it to the wrong door, and we never used that entry.
Still, if you're home, there should be no reason the parcel isn't delivered. Falling for bullshit excuses just enables them to half-ass their jobs. |

| Hahaha, this just happened to me. But instead of being a package of some sort, its was a F*%kin LETTER from a relative down east. A letter, come on now. Im sure you can carry a letter around with you cant you, its the same size as the notification you left me to pick it up. LIKe WTF, instead of me coming home to get a nice letter I get a notification to go pick up this letter 10 minutes from my house. Good god, FedEx all the way. Screw Canada post lazy assholes. |

Living in a new house in a new subdivision, I have one of those Superboxes for my mail. When I first moved in, I thought "crap! I have to deal with those &$*@^@* Superboxes"
But now, after living there a while, I actually LIKE having the Superbox. My mail is secure (no more stealing stuff out of my mailbox when I'm not home) and parcels are always there in one of the lower bins, waiting for me. The box is on my road leading to my house, so I just stop and pick it up on my way home from work.
Now, I hope I don't ever get home delivery, cause then I won't have to deal with the a$$holes who don't even ring your guys' doors, and then have to drive over to the post office to get my parcels. |

Please enlighten me. I just spent the last 10 minutes combing over Canada Posts guide to delivery standards (http://www.canadapost.ca/personal/t...l/default-e.asp) and can't find where it says that they don't deliver the package to my door. |

I dont get it.... why the fuck would you not ring the door bell or something and just leave a note. They have to drive all the way there anyways, so it barely takes any extra effort to carry the box and press a button.
Heres a note though, in this time of season, expect a lot of packages dropped at your front door without ringing of doorbell, its just too busy. |

Purolator usually gives the contact number a call when the package goes back to their warehouse. :dunno:
I have had that happen with Canada Post though. They put the notice on the door knob, but it was blown off. I found it in the yard, but not until after my package had already been returned to sender. |
