I think he should also have criminal charges placed against him for downloading movies illegaly, it would serve the retard rig pig right for being and idiot, and then complaining about it

someguyincanada
he downloaded and admited to downloading movies, wheres the cops when you need them? and honestly he should pay the 85 grand. as a consumer you should be aware of your actions.

I amassed a $2800 phone bill for my first month because they told me the TV feature was free (which they failed to activate). They admitted it was a problem on their end and they fixed the bill instantly.

A 3 minute clip configured to be streamed on a phone is probably a megabyte or two. Last I remember, Bell was charging $0.05/kB. That is nothing. You do the math. That's $50 for 1MB of transfer with their rate. If you download a 5MB MP3 you are paying $250.

I was never into the thing anyway since the quality was shitty... I was just curious so I watched a few hockey highlights, music videos, etc...

Here in Japan everybody get live TV for free on their phone and it's widescreen, like 10 channels and better quality. Not shitty little snippets of shows like Bell was offering. The phone companies here are out to rape anybody either so unlimited data plans.

Then again, the data infrastructure in Japan is ages ahead of what it is in Canada (100mbps direct to each home is $40 a month).

It's not a criminal offence. The cops have NOTHING to do with something like that. He could be liable for a civil suit from the owners of whatever he downloaded.

As if any of you wouldn't be bitching like crazy as well if this happened to you. Granted the guy is an idiot for doing this and not reading the fine print, but it's still ridiculous what they charge.
