I went to "I am Legend" tonight at the IMAX.
Overall it was a pretty decent movie, I would give it a 7.5 out of 10.
Anyone else see it? What were your thoughts?

meh....
It was alright.
I got the impression that leader of the infected was all pissed off cause Will stole his bitch for experimental purposes.
Did I miss something or did the "vaccine" at the beginning of the movie give people rabies after a short while? I thought I heard that.
At any rate I give it about 5/10. Definitely would make a good rental. Maybe I was annoyed as I had to sit though 30 minutes of commercials when the movie was supposed to start.
Agreed on the new Batman movie! :D

Everything was very predictable...

He was a general though, all he did was tell people who to shoot ... or push a button. heh
Yeah, kind of a shitty hunter though. It was a pretty decent premise, but I think they dropped the ball. I liked how they kept some human attributes to the vampires, not just like mindless zombies. The trap setting, etc. |

So what was the deal with the trap with the mannequin? Did the f-ed up people set that up? Or did Smith forget that he set it.
Also, I kinda thought the strength of the zombies was QUITE off. I mean, they would break through walls and shit. Or at the end, that guys head would have been smashed in before he got through. |

uhmmm i think the trap meant that the zombies or whatever were actually evolving and getting smarter. Which they didnt think they would.
The strength was off..... But they were infected with a some sort of super vaccine that cured cancer or whatever so it obviously had some side effects. |

if you watch that part over
when he first sees him fo the 3 seconds, it is no the manikin
it is one of the zombies, in a orange hoodie, and he turns his head
i watched it like 5 times over that on part, and he clearly moves his head and it's not a manikin head at first but a zombie sitting there wearing the hoodie, to protect himself from the sun, then it's quickley swapped out |

Good movie, horrible plot/story.
SPOILERS
-The trap was set by him. It was exactly like his first one. He was going crazy. The water was there to hide the line and this was his usual thing (like getting DVD's etc). But on this day, he went stir crazy at the wrong time. The manequin did move (in his mind). I'm not sure, but his dog didn't do anything. He was all chilled out ALL the time Willey is going nuts. If it was a zombie trap, the dog would've went nuts (ie when they really do show up, he goes crazy).
-Light hurts the zombies (what are they called in the movie?). But he hides it on his gun? Why? And he tells the girl to turn off all the lights? Uhh.... And all his crap around his house did nothing. The whole 'light' kills them totally messed up everything.
-They can track him (and the girl/boy) from a hundred miles away, through metal doors etc etc. Yet, when they are 5 feet away from him, in the same room, they can't?? (Ie when the girl/boy are under the desk), and the zombie is just tearing up the roof for no reason. Uh....
-Usual duex ex machina at the end. He should've been working on the cure instead of galavanting around.
But like I said, good movie, just don't pay attention to the storyline and you'll be fine. |

Im pretty sure the trap was set by the zombies. Which is probaly why he was freaking out that "fred" might be alive.
UV hurts the zombies/vampires, not light.
I thought the movie was well made, but a little short, and the random references to divine-intervention was pretty corny... 8/10 |

The fact that he talks to mannequins doesn't put him into the crazy realm already?
I think he set the trap himself. When he enters the DVD shop the first time he says, 'hey, NICE Jersey!'. Meaning, poor Fred probably gets shot up quite a bit (or someone like Fred).
Also, he comments 'they have lost all human like characteristics', so no cunning/intelligence left for the Zombies to mimic his earlier trap.
As for 'UV' light. All he had to do was set up some fluorescent lights and bye bye zombies. For a supposed genius, he should've known that. |

He's not crazy. He might seem crazy because he's setting up all the manequins into a nice community, but that's the only way he can keep relatively sane; by pretending there are still people around.
Flourescent lights don't emit UV radiation. I do agree that he could have used the UV projectors a litte better though. Those zombies knocked over the UV posts pretty easily haha |

I honestly went a completely different way.
I thought that the zombie that was freaking out all the time (super strong baldy) was upset because Will kidnapped his girl.
Then was so out to get Will that he set a trap to capture him and find out where his girl was. I totally expected baldy to be the leader and be the intelligence of the group.
Boy was I wrong. Good movie, but this sort of idea was done first with Omega Man with Charlton Heston.
I totally agree with s2k, his traps and defenses could've been waaaay better. maybe he should've rented Omega Man instead of Shrek all the time :) |

my take on things:
when Will got caught in the trap, he did not set that! they were getting him back for catching the girl earlier in the movie. no they did no set it up during the day, they set it up at night when hes hiding inside. also, notice how once he get caught in it, he sees the guy in the building window behind him? also the zombie dudes were there waiting for dark in the window directly behind the trap with the dogs. coincidence that they are in that building? no.
when the zombie was riping out the roof, im assuming he was making a hole for the other to get in, or for him to get out.
when he was in the dark building... he was covering his flashlight because it would give away his position. sure they dont like the light, but its not like they instantly die. he didnt want them to know where he was.
as for tracking him... how that tracked him to his place(100's of miles away apparently) is when he got in the car wreck on the dock. that girl took him home and since it was getting dark when she brought him home, they could follow him to his place. thats why he always set an alarm so he would be home before the sun starts going down. they knew he was in the building, but not exactly where.
anything i didnt touch on that was mentioned?
oh the strength of the 'zombies', kinda wrecked it for me. when its way to far fetched its boring. they shouldnt have been able to break through the glass with only his head. |

Okay, what I don't understand, is why it took him so fucking long to get back in his goddamn truck...
Sure, I have never stabbed myself in the leg with a knife, and had it go like 4 inches into my thigh... But I've shot myself with a nail gun, and when it first happens, you're in so much shock you don't even feel pain...
And even if he's the biggest bitch on earth (which it seems to be the case here) why in the fuck didn't he hobble up onto his good leg and hop his ass like terry-fucking-fox back to his truck...
He knew the zombies were coming, and I guess, they had to make some kind of suspense scene... because the rest of the movie licked balls... |

I'm rethinking the whole trap thing. Willy says the Zombies are getting more stupid. But can we rely on what he says? After all, he's killed hundred of them already (in his experiments). He hates them.
Yet they are the same 'humans' that he's trying to cure right? He really flippant about killing them and maybe he under estimates the zombies? It's pretty interesting that the savior (self proclaimed) doesn't really care too much about his patients... |

See... He says "all human behaviour absent" and then the crazy zombie dude flips the fuck out because Will steals his girl... Which proves his theory totally wrong. I thought they set it up like that on purpose? But maybe I'm reading too much into it..? |

| Not zombies, vampires. Think about how he notes the male coming out into the sun after he took his bitch. He sees that they still have some human connections. |

Didn't the vampires learn how to set the trap from Will Smith because it's the exact same set up that Will had used to catch the girl? And I think there was some kind of connection between the caught girl vampire and the tall one.
So is that colony going to try to repopulate the earth?
So who got a little confused about the Batman trailer that played in the IMAX showing? I thought it was actually the movie until I saw the batmobile. I kept wondering why they were referring to the Joker... |
