Even though I don't believe in New Year's Resolutions, what has everyone thought about for theirs?

Never had one, never will.

Pisses me right off when the gym is suddenly packed for a couple weeks after new years until people realize that they don't have the motivation to actually push for goals.

A few months ago I started hitting the gym 3 times a week to get in shape for next race season, and I'm going keep it up regardless of what time of year it is, I'm finally seeing some results and gaining some weight.

IMO New years resolutions are utterly pointless, nobody sticks to them anyway.

If you want to make a change in your life, don't talk about it, do it.

Don't believe in them.

People can make changes anytime they want. Why wait for the new year to make a change they have absolutely no commitment to keep?

Maybe I will try to ban less people. :dunno:

I dont belive in NYR's but I do belive in accomplishing what you really want. I cut down to a 6pack (abs) for summer (never been that lean before) and just recently quit smoking (1 month).

I need to get my EMR and some other courses to eventually apply for Edmonton Fire this year though.

You guys remember that no pop for a year I set last year.

Still stuck to my guns, I have yet to sip a soda pop for the entire year of 2007

Next year is

No fast food hamburgers or deep fried chicken

So bring on the extra lean ground beef ( I like to cook pasta and hamburger helper when I am lazy)
and chicken breast.

Maybe you guys can make a resolution not to hate me in the new year.

Atta boy! I remember that.

Your new challenge should be no Merkur for a year!

How did the no pop for a year work out for you?

Mike

little_one_der
I'm not making one this year because I figure that I started the gym a couple months ago and have been going literally 5 times a week since. I feel great, and I'll call it my early resolution.

Godzilla
if i think of something i want to do i don't wait. i call it a next day resolution. ie: this year my november 29th resolution was to get back into swimming and i've been doing it since.

That was last years for me and I managed to get it down to once sometime 2 times no more than that, been a real time saver.

I like to have small resiloutions like this year I did not get more than a beer buzz and barly drank anything and it's been really lame so to hell with that this year I wanna be a drunk.

Well, I definitely can't do no merkur for a year thats 100% out of the question.

Crazy thing about the no pop for a year is that even 9-10 months in you get wierd dreams!

The whole mentality of personally stopping yourself from consuming something that you have consumed the other 24 some odd years of your life can be interpreted the wrong way by the brain,

I had a dream where I was so dehydrated and the only thing there was to drink was a glass of ice cold Coke...
The dream felt so real and I ended up caving because it was so hot and I was so thirsty that I actually woke up thinking I broke the 1 year thing.

I still think I could have drank more water but still 1 year is not too bad.
It really opens your eyes to all the other things you can drink.

Supra_devil
not really for new years, but i plan on sitting down while i have this week off and making a new savings/debt payment plan for this year so that i can get one step closer to my no debt by 30 goal.

little_one_der
Including house? ^^^

Supra_devil
yes. assumiong nothing unforseen happens to me and i save my money instead of spending it all on new toys then it is a realistic goal.

That would be awesome. Having no debt/mortgage can open up a whole new world of opportunities. Good luck dude!

Girls arn't useless and you need to have a decent outward appearance to get one so clothes are a must.. A nice car helps... but then again I didnt see alcohol on that list... so maybe you are right.. bwhahah. Jokes.

The holiday season is no better or worse than any other time of year for me, it just seems to bring out the worst in others, which means people are less tolerant of my shenanigans!

:D

No resolutions. I just need to get rid of my gut, before I can't.

fugumerkur
Hey, i made the whole year without drinking pop.!

that was my last years resolution.

Pepsi was an interesting taste after a year!

I have yet to drink coke , and I had my first mountain Dew in probably a year and half.

No fast food Hamburgers for a year.

thats my new one, if its Chicken thats not deep fried then im good to eat it.

EDIT:

I was at 200lbs on new years, with playing hockey here and there I am down to 189lbs, first time in well over 6 months.!
( I have also cut my portion sizes down, and that makes a hell of a difference)

out of curiousity, why would you start drinking pop again. it appears to me you are trying to better your health with these resolutions, but by cutting one thing out and bringing another thing back in your not getting ahead any more.

fugumerkur
oh man, I drink alot of water!

I think in the first week of the year I have had 4.5 cans of pop.!

Im going to continue drinking juice but only like 1-2 cups at a time and getting the rest of my thirst with water.

I'll drink pop here and there but i'll treat it the way it should be treated, as an occasional snack!

onestepback
I'm attempting the "no pop for a year" challenge. We'll see how long this lasts.

fugumerkur
Good luck with it.

You may get wierd cravings but its not too hard to do.

The funniest thing I realized about that new years resolution:

when your at the grocery store take notice how the Pop aisel is an entire aisel.

Water is less than a quarter of an aisel
and the juice aisel takes up as much space as the hamburger helper section.
